Inleiding.
Geheel van voormalige St. AntoniusSCHOOL en ONDERWIJZERSWONING, nu in gebruik als jongerencentrum en woonhuis. Het geheel werd in 1918 gebouwd in vormen van de neorenaissance en is gelegen in de kern van Heusden.
Omschrijving.
Het grootste gedeelte van het gebouw wordt in beslag genomen door de school. Dit is een éénlaags gebouw met hoge verdiepingshoogte onder zadeldak, waarvan de nok evenwijdig aan de straat loopt. Het rechteruiteinde heeft een topgevel onder haaks zadeldak. Links van de school ligt het uitspringende woongedeelte, één laag hoog met topgevel en doorlopend in de laatste travee van de schoolvleugel. Het huis heeft aan de achterzijde een schilddak met piron. De daken zijn voorzien van goten op consoles. Het geheel is uitgevoerd in baksteen waarbij het woon- en schoolgedeelte zich van elkaar onderscheiden door de kleur baksteen. De gevels zijn voorzien van speklagen in een afwijkende kleur. Om de topgevels is een getrapt fries aangebracht, daartussen is de langgerekte gevel van een kroonlijst met metselmozaïek voorzien, aan de onderkant afgescheiden door een tandlijst. In de gevel bevinden zich vierruitsramen met een zesruits bovenlicht, elk voormalig klaslokaal heeft drie ramen. De ontlastingsboog is een flauwe segmentboog, uitgevoerd in rode baksteen met gepleisterde aanzet- en sluitsteen en gepleisterde boogvelden. Vensterbanken zijn uitgevoerd in groene, geglazuurde baksteen. In de topgevel, rechts is een samengesteld raam onder een rondboog aangebracht, het veld opgevuld met een polychroom metselmozaïek. Daaronder is met geglazuurde tegels een band met het opschrift "R.K. SCHOOL ST. ANTONIUS" zichtbaar.

Voor de school is een bestraat plein aangelegd. Hierop staat een oude boom. Voor het woonhuis ligt een tuin, van het schoolplein en de straat afgescheiden door een ligusterhaag.
Waardering.
De school met onderwijzerswoning is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarden die het geheel bezit als vertegenwoordiger van een voormalige dorpsschool in een vroeg-twintigste-eeuws kerkdorp en vanwege de gaafheid en de zeldzaamheid van het bouwtype. Architectuurhistorische waarden liggen onder meer in de detaillering en het materiaalgebruik.

The largest part of the building is occupied by the school. This is a single-storey building with high storey height under a gabled roof, with the ridge running parallel to the street. The right end has a stepped gable under a perpendicular gabled roof. To the left of the school is the projecting residential section, one storey high with a stepped gable and continuing in the final bay of the school wing. The house has a hipped roof with cresting on its rear side. The roofs are equipped with gutters on consoles. The whole is executed in brickwork whereby the residential and school sections are distinguished from each other by the colour of the brick. The facades are provided with decorative brick bands in a contrasting colour. Around the stepped gables is a stepped frieze, between them the extended facade is provided with a cornice bearing brickwork mosaic, at the bottom separated by a dentil course. In the facade are four-pane windows with a six-pane fanlight, each former classroom has three windows. The relieving arch is a shallow segmental arch, executed in red brickwork with plastered springers and keystone and plastered arch fields. Window sills are executed in green, glazed brickwork. In the stepped gable, on the right is a composite window under a round arch, the field filled with polychrome brickwork mosaic. Below it is visible a band with the inscription "R.K. SCHOOL ST. ANTONIUS" made with glazed tiles.

To the left of it is a three-part window with small under- and fanlights, filled with coloured cathedral glass, placed.
In the side facade on the ground floor are T-windows, directly under the eave are some small windows placed. Behind the dwelling is a single-storey extension with six-pane windows present. In front of the school a paved courtyard has been laid out. On it stands an old tree. In front of the residential house is a garden, separated from the school courtyard and the street by a privet hedge.
Valuation.
The school with teacher's residence is of general importance because of the cultural-historical values which the complex possesses as a representative of a former village school in an early twentieth-century church village and because of the completeness and the rarity of the building type. Architectural-historical values lie among other things in the detailing and the use of materials.
