Omschrijving
Inleiding.
VILLA met kenmerken van de Neo-Renaissancestijl uit 1895, gebouwd door Ulbo Jetze Heerma van Voss, zoon van de suikerfabrikant S.C.J. Voss uit Zwartenbergen. Architect was de bekende Leurse kerkenbouwer Petrus Johannes Van Genk. Tussen de villa en het tegenovergelegen Sint-Antoniusgesticht ligt een naar de suikerfabrikant genoemd plantsoen. Het huis met voorgevel op het oosten ligt vrij op het perceel. Aan de noordkant van de villa een dubbele garage. Aan de westkant achter het huis een uitgebouwde veranda met erboven balkon.
Omschrijving.
De villa heeft twee bouwlagen liggend onder een met leien gedekt schilddak. In de dakschilden kapellen met helmdaken. De voorgevel heeft een risaliet met tuitgevel. In de oksel van de gevel en de risaliet ligt centraal in de voorgevel een hoogopgaande ingangspartij, met een achtzijdig torendak met ui en oculus. De tuitgevel, torendak met oculus en kapellen zijn bekroond door smeedwerk. De gevels hebben rondom een kroonlijst op gestoken klossen met fries, cordonlijst en basement. Het opgaande werk bestaat uit roodpaarse machinale baksteen gemetseld in kruisverband met toepassing van Franse kalksteen voor de aanzet- en sluitstenen rond de getoogde muuropeningen, de horizontale banden en muurafdekking van de tuitgevel. De schuifvensters op de begane grond hebben rolluiken. Dubbele voordeur met gietijzeren roosters. Interieur onder andere met rijk bewerkte stucplafonds, marmeren hal en gang. Aan de straat als erfscheiding een smeedijzeren hekwerk op gemetseld basement.
Waardering.
De villa met hekwerk is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als vertegenwoordiger van de welvaart welke door de suikerindustrie in deze omgeving werd gebracht. Het geheel is architectuurhistorisch waardevol vanwege de stijl, de plaats in het werk van de architect en het materiaalgebruik. Het gebouw is gaaf bewaard gebleven en van belang vanwege het bouwtype vrijstaande villa op vrije plattegrond, met de ingangspartij geaccentueerd door een torenvormige partij voorzien van markant dak. Dit is een zeldzaam gegeven, evenals de zijgevels die een relatief rijke behandeling hebben gekregen met als het ware een om de hoeken voortgezette detaillering.

VILLA with characteristics of the Neo-Renaissance style from 1895, built by Ulbo Jetze Heerma van Voss, son of sugar factory owner S.C.J. Voss from Zwartenbergen. Architect was the well-known Leur church architect Petrus Johannes Van Genk. Between the villa and the opposite Sint-Antoniusgesticht lies a green space named after the sugar factory owner. The villa has two storeys situated under a slate-covered hipped roof. In the roof slopes chapels with helmet roofs. The front facade has a risalit with a spout gable. In the junction of the facade and the risalit lies centrally in the front facade a high entrance section, with an eight-sided tower roof with onion dome and oculus. The spout gable, tower roof with oculus and chapels are crowned by wrought ironwork. The facades have all round a cornice on projecting brackets with frieze, string course and basement. The masonry consists of red-purple machine-made brick laid in English bond with the use of French limestone for the springer and voussoir stones around the arched wall openings, the horizontal bands and wall coping of the spout gable. The sash windows on the ground floor have roller shutters. Double front door with cast iron grilles. Interior with, among other things, richly decorated stucco ceilings, marble hall and passage. To the street as boundary a wrought iron fence on brick basement.
Valuation.
The villa with fence is of general importance because of its cultural-historical value as a representative of the prosperity brought to this area by the sugar industry. The whole is architecturally valuable because of the style, its place in the work of the architect and the use of materials. The building has been well preserved and is important because of the building type of detached villa on open ground plan, with the entrance section accentuated by a tower-shaped section provided with striking roof. This is a rare feature, as are the side facades which have received a relatively rich treatment with, as it were, detailing continued around the corners.
