Inleiding
Op het kerkhof van de rooms-katholieke Sint-Lambertuskerk (rijksmonument) aan het Kerkplein 7 te Haren staat aan de westelijke zijde een klein BAARHUIS MET CALVARIEBERG in sobere neogotische stijl, uit omstreeks 1900.
Omschrijving
Het éénlaags huisje heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en bakstenen muurwerk met een tandlijst. Op het zadeldak liggen muldenpannen. In de zuidelijke gevel zitten twee toegangsdeuren, in de noordelijke gevel één opgeklampt deurtje met spitsbogige strek. Géén van de gevels heeft vensters. Het interieur is in twee rechthoekige vertrekken verdeeld. Het zadeldak heeft aan de westelijke zijde een fors houten overstek. Onder deze kap, met onder meer ajour driepassen en florale motieven, hangt tegen de westelijke muur van het baarhuisje een houten kruis met een kunststenen corpus, waarboven een dito plaquette met de afkorting: "INRI". Voor het kruis een klein natuurstenen knielbankje. Het kruisbeeld wordt geflankeerd door in het muurwerk uitgespaarde blinde spitsboognissen, met elk een bakstenen sokkel voor een (ontbrekend) beeld.
Waardering
Het objecten zijn van algemeen belang. Ze hebben cultuurhistorische waarde als uitdrukking van een geestelijke ontwikkeling. De objecten maken deel uit van een waardevolle groep kerkelijke bebouwing en zijn daarnaast gaaf bewaard gebleven. De combinatie van baarhuis met calvarieberg is zeldzaam.

On the churchyard of the Roman Catholic Sint-Lambertuskerk (national monument) at Kerkplein 7 in Haren stands on the western side a small MORTUARY CHAPEL WITH CALVARY HILL in sober neo-Gothic style, from approximately 1900.
Description
The single-storey cottage has a rectangular floor plan and brickwork with a tooth moulding. On the gabled roof lie pantiles. In the southern facade are two entrance doors, in the northern facade one clamped small door with pointed-arch surround. None of the facades have windows. The interior is divided into two rectangular rooms. The gabled roof has on the western side a substantial wooden overhang. Under this canopy, with among other things open-work trefoils and floral motifs, hangs against the western wall of the mortuary chapel a wooden cross with a cast-stone corpus, above which a likewise plaquette with the abbreviation: "INRI". In front of the cross a small natural-stone kneeling bench. The crucifix is flanked by blind pointed-arch recesses cut into the masonry, each with a brick base for a (missing) image.
Evaluation
The objects are of general importance. They have cultural-historic value as an expression of a spiritual development. The objects form part of a valuable group of ecclesiastical buildings and are furthermore well-preserved. The combination of mortuary chapel with calvary hill is rare.
