Inleiding
Voormalig GEMEENTEHUIS, gebouwd in Ambachtelijk-Traditionele stijl rond 1885. Na 1919 is het aan de dijk gelegen pand in gebruik genomen als woonhuis.
Omschrijving
Het eenlaagse pand met souterrain telt vijf traveeën en heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond. De gevels zijn opgetrokken uit handvorm baksteen. Het zadeldak is gedekt met oudhollandse dakpannen. De voorgevel is symmetrisch van opzet. Tussen de vier zesruits schuifvensters met luiken en hardsteen dorpels bevindt zich de paneeldeur. Het bovenlicht bevat gebogen sierroeden. Tussen de vensterdorpels van de vensters rechts bevindt zich een rechthoekige N.A.P. steen. In de linkergevel bevindt zich een zesruits schuifvenster met luiken, een hijsluik en een gevelsteen die deels leesbaar is; "J.
Lagarde burgemeester en dijkgraaf 18..". In de rechtergevel bevinden zich rondboogvormige koetsdeuren en daar boven een zesruits schuifvenster met luiken.

Het voormalige raadhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een bestuurlijke en sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van gebouwen voor het gemeentelijk bestuur in de late negentiende eeuw en is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het kleine dorpsraadhuis. Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de sobere stijl en afgewogen verhoudingen. Het gebouw is belangrijk vanwege de gaafheid van het exterieur en is als voorbeeld van een eenvoudig raadhuis zeldzaam.

Description
The single-storey building with basement comprises five bays and has a rectangular floor plan. The facades are constructed of handmade brick. The gabled roof is covered with old-Dutch roof tiles. The front facade is symmetrically arranged. Between four six-paned sash windows with shutters and hard stone sills is the panelled door. The fanlight contains curved ornamental rods. Between the window sills of the windows on the right is a rectangular N.A.P. stone. In the left facade is a six-paned sash window with shutters, a hoist shutter and a facade stone which is partly legible; "J.
Lagarde mayor and dike reeve 18..". In the right facade are segmental arch carriage doors and above them a six-paned sash window with shutters.
Valuation
The former town hall is of general interest. It has cultural-historical significance as an example of administrative and socio-economic development, namely the establishment of buildings for municipal administration in the late nineteenth century and is also of significance as an example of the typological development of the small village town hall. It has architectural-historical value because of its austere style and carefully considered proportions. The building is important because of the integrity of its exterior and as an example of a simple town hall is rare.
