Inleiding
WOONHUIS, gebouwd in 1898 in Eclectische stijl, op de hoek van de Bernhardweg en de Oyense Bovendijk met aanbouw uit de bouwtijd.
Omschrijving
De eenlaagse woning heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond met een haaks achter geplaatste aanbouw. De gevels zijn opgetrokken uit grauw gepleisterde baksteen met speklagen van bruine machinale baksteen. Onder de lijstgevel een baksteen sierlijst. De gekrulde sierankers zijn van smeedijzer. Het zadeldak met oudhollandse dakpannen wordt onderbroken door een puntgevel boven de entree in de tweede travee van links. De lagere aanbouw heeft een wolfdak met dezelfde dakpannen. De voorgevel telt vijf assen. De schuifvensters met ongedeeld bovenlicht zijn evenals de voordeur geplaatst onder een segmentboog van baksteen. De kozijnen zijn geprofileerd gesneden. In de segmentbogen zijn geglazuurde gedecoreerde tegels geplaatst. De deur in portiek is vernieuwd. In de topgevel een T-venster met aan weerskanten een gevelsteen waarop "Anno" en "1898". Links in de hoek een smalle schoorsteen met sieranker.
De rechtergevel is eenvoudig en heeft rechte muurankers. Daarachter de aanbouw in dezelfde uitvoering.
De gevel aan de zijde van de Oyense Bovendijk heeft een driedeling met rijke topgevel. Op de begane grond een een brede blinde segmentboog met aan weerszijden een smal schuifvenster onder segmentboog. Boven deze hoekdelen een schilddak. De topgevel is vormgegeven als loggia met opengewerkte baksteen borstwering en dubbele rondboog en kraagt over op de segmentboog. In de topgevel baksteen siermetselwerk.
Waardering
Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van de Maaskant en als specimen van de typologische ontwikkeling van het dorpswoonhuis. Het heeft architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege de sobere vormentaal en is tevens van belang als regionale variant van het Eclecticisme. Het is van belang vanwege de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur.

The single-storey dwelling has a rectangular floor plan with a rectangular outbuilding placed at right angles behind. The facades are constructed of grey rendered brick with speckled layers of brown machine-made brick. Below the cornice-topped facade is a brick ornamental moulding. The curved ornamental anchors are of wrought iron. The gabled roof with old Dutch roof tiles is interrupted by a pointed gable above the entrance in the second bay from the left. The lower outbuilding has a half-hipped roof with the same roof tiles. The front facade has five axes. The sash windows with undivided fanlight are, like the front door, placed under a segmental arch of brick. The frames are moulded cut. In the segmental arches glazed decorated tiles are placed. The door in the portico has been renewed. In the gable a T-window with on either side a stone plaque bearing "Anno" and "1898". Left in the corner a narrow chimney with ornamental anchor.
The right facade is simple and has straight wall anchors. Behind it the outbuilding in the same style.
The facade facing Oyense Bovendijk has a tripartite division with rich gable. On the ground floor a wide blind segmental arch with on either side a narrow sash window under segmental arch.
