Inleiding
De in 1867 in Eclectische trant gebouwde HERBERG met stalling was een halteplaats langs de tramlijn Harlingen-Bolsward die in 1881 is aangelegd. De herberg is een twee bouwlagen hoog, blokvormig gebouw met zolder, met aan de linker- en achterzijde de stalling. De voorgevel met ingang is gericht op het noorden. Aan de linkerzijde bevindt zich op de verdieping de karakteristieke verglaasde gietijzeren serre. Tegenwoordig is daar het podium van de bovenzaal ingebouwd. De stalling heeft een ingang aan de Sytzamaweg en aan de Polle (een zijweg van de Sytzamaweg) en wordt gekenmerkt door vele verbouwingen, die overigens het karakter van het gebouw niet wezenlijk hebben aangetast. Aan de Polle ligt inpandig een woning, vermoedelijk voor personeel.
Omschrijving
Het hoofdgebouw, met vierkante basis, is opgetrokken in donkerrode baksteen voorzien van een in stucwerk uitgevoerde cordonlijst, hoekpilasters en een forse gootlijst met tandlijst. De gevels van de stallen zijn gedeeltelijk met een gele en gedeeltelijk met donkerrode steen uitgevoerd. Het schilddak van de herberg is gedekt met een zwarte Hollandse pan; het samengesteld dak van de stallingen en woning met een zwarte gegolfde Friese pan.
Voorgevel: het gepleisterde middenrisaliet met entree en schijnvoegen heeft bij het dak een fronton met in het timpaan een rond venster; op het fries staat "de gekroonde leeuw"; op de verdieping, op zware consoles een balkon met gietijzeren balustrade en een dubbele deur met tweeruits bovenlicht. Een dubbele deur met gietijzeren sierroosters in een portiek vormt de entree; aan weerszijden zitten op de begane grond en op de verdieping twee vensters met een stenen segmentboog.
Westgevel: op de verdieping de gietijzeren serre met plat dak, rustend op één gietijzeren kolom; op de begane grond twee vensters als in de voorgevel; gedenksteen met opschrift: 'gedenksteen gelegd tijdens het bouwen van dit gebouw Jacob de Rapper W.A.-zoon in 1876'.
Oostgevel: een gemetselde cordonlijst; zowel op begane grond als op de verdieping vier vensters zoals in voorgevel.
De stalling met woning (westzijde) is door de vele aanpassingen vrij divers in zijn voorkomen. De stalling heeft gedeeltelijk een gegolfd zinkplaten dak gekregen. De bouwtrant is traditioneel. De twee toegangen hebben grote dubbele poorten; naast de toegang aan de Sytzamaweg staat een pomp.
In het INTERIEUR zijn onder meer van belang: in de hal een rozet in het plafond; gemarmerde wanden met lijst. In de bar een schouw met archivolt op voluten; houten bar uit vermoedelijk het begin van de 20ste eeuw. Restaurant en woonkamer waren vroeger één en zijn volledig vernieuwd; mutatie in structuur ten behoeve van keuken met koeling. De vergaderzaal op de verdieping staat tegenwoordig in verbinding met de theaterzaal middels een harmonicadeur. De theaterzaal heeft een bepleisterd plafond met zware rozetten (Lodewijk XV) en een zware gesneden plafondlijst; in de zijwand achter grote glazen meerruits-deuren een houten bar met een neo-classicistisch voorkomen uit vermoedelijk het begin van de 20ste eeuw; hierachter houten kasten met pilasters en arcades. Op de zolder droogstokken. De verdere structuur van het gebouw wordt gekenmerkt door vele routes en niveauverschillen.

Introduction
The INN with stabling, built in 1867 in Eclectic style, was a stopping point along the tram line Harlingen-Bolsward which was laid out in 1881. Description
The main building, with square base, is built in dark red brick with a cornice line executed in stucco, corner pilasters and a substantial cornice with dentil moulding. The facades of the stables are executed partly in yellow and partly in dark red stone. The hipped roof of the inn is covered with black Dutch tiles; the composite roof of the stables and dwelling with black corrugated Frisian tiles.
Front facade: the plastered central projection with entrance and false joints has at the roof a pediment with a round window in the tympanum; on the frieze stands "the crowned lion"; on the upper storey, on heavy consoles a balcony with cast-iron balustrade and a double door with two-light fanlight. A double door with cast-iron ornamental grilles in a porch forms the entrance; on either side sit two windows with stone segmental arch on the ground floor and on the upper storey.
West facade: on the upper storey the cast-iron conservatory with flat roof, resting on one cast-iron column; on the ground floor two windows as in the front facade; commemorative stone with inscription: 'commemorative stone laid during the construction of this building Jacob de Rapper W.A.-son in 1876'.
