Inleiding
KAZEMAT XVII uit 1933-1934 behoort niet tot het originele plan voor de Stelling van Kornwerderzand, dat voorzag in 16 kazematten. Deze kazemat is als laatste gebouwd, deed dienst als zoeklichtremise en is gelegen ten zuidwesten van Kazemat XI.
Omschrijving
De langwerpige kazemat, met een afmeting van 8,5 x 18 m, is volledig aangeaard, met uitzondering van de ingang die gericht is op het zuidoosten, en voorzien van twee flankerende muren die schuin weglopen en dienen als grondkering en een portaal. Boven de kazemat is alleen het nummer aangeduid en niet het bouwjaar. Aan de bovenzijde van de flankerende grondkering steken stekeinden uit het beton ten behoeve van camouflagenetten. De buitenmuren zijn voorzien van een Duitse camouflage-schildering. Tussen de struiken op de dekking van deze kazemat, dicht bij de keelzijde van Kazemat XI zijn twee schoorstenen en een koker verscholen voor respectievelijk verbrandingsgas-afvoer en luchttoevoer voor het aggregaat dat zich in een aparte ruimte in de kazemat bevindt. Deze zijn van dezelfde Duitse camouflageschildering voorzien.
INTERIEUR: de kazemat bestaat uit een remise-vertrek, een aggregaatruimte en een ondergronds brandstofreservoir.

Introduction
CASEMATE XVII from 1933-1934 is not part of the original plan for the Stelling van Kornwerderzand, which provided for 16 casemates. This casemate was built last, served as a searchlight shed and is located to the south-west of Casemate XI.
Description
The elongated casemate, with dimensions of 8.5 x 18 m, is completely earthed, with the exception of the entrance which is directed towards the south-east, and equipped with two flanking walls that slope away and serve as ground retention and a portico. Above the casemate only the number is indicated and not the year of construction. At the top of the flanking ground retention steel stubs project from the concrete for camouflage nets. The external walls are provided with German camouflage paintwork. Between the shrubs on the covering of this casemate, close to the gorge side of Casemate XI, two chimneys and a duct are concealed for respectively combustion gas evacuation and air supply for the generator which is located in a separate room in the casemate. These are provided with the same German camouflage paintwork.
INTERIOR: the casemate consists of a shed room, a generator room and an underground fuel reservoir.
