Omschrijving
Omschrijving

Description
Description
On the south side of the actual lock gate in front of the old discharge work is the original PUMPING STATION. Originally this pumping station had electrically driven pumps with a capacity of respectively 3.5 cubic metres and 1.5 metres per second. The delivery height was 6 metres.
The pumping station, constructed entirely in white rendered concrete, is built on a rectangular base. The building is pushed half into the dike with its front side so that the gables behind the dike reach a greater height. Opposite the dike gable is the concrete bridge head of part of the discharge work.
The FRONT and REAR GABLES of the pumping station are provided with iron frames up to the gutter and fitted with concrete sill stones. The building is closed off by a gabled roof with far extended roof panel at the rear. The roof is covered with improved Dutch tiles. On the corners of the FRONT and REAR GABLE are stylised brackets on which a wooden framework with zinc gutter around it is attached. The FRONT GABLE contains an elongated concrete frame with mullions, in which 12 coupled 24-pane windows with hinged top section are provided.
The LEFT SIDE GABLE has an iron door at dike height. Above this are three 4-pane windows. The right gable panel slopes to the ground level below the dike. In this are three elongated 12-pane windows. At the top the entire gable is closed off by a projecting eaves moulding. Along the floor level of the gable a concrete stair is attached.
The RIGHT SIDE GABLE is the same as the LEFT SIDE GABLE.
The REAR GABLE has, as a result of the steep slope of the ground level behind the dike, a larger gable panel. Above two elongated drainage slots separated by a concrete wall dam, are two round wall openings. Approximately 1.5 metres above these openings is an elongated concrete frame, fitted with 12 coupled 24-pane windows with hinged bottom sashes.
The INTERIOR still contains parts of the old pump mechanism, an iron catwalk and still has the original layout.
