Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
The VILLA was built around 1870 in the Neo-French Renaissance architectural style and is regarded as one of the most monumental examples of the strip of nineteenth-century villas along the Rhine.
The conservatory to the right of the front facade was added to the villa later.
Description
The villa consists of a basement, bel étage and first floor and is constructed on a rectangular ground plan with risalits under a truncated hipped roof with slate in rens covering and an overhanging gutter on brackets. Above a hardstone plinth the basement is plastered and the facades are constructed in red brick and provided with a plastered profiled drip moulding and band courses; beneath the gutter a plastered cornice and on the corners of the facades and risalits plastered pilasters with mock joints. Some facade sections are also entirely plastered. The facade layout consists of small arched windows in the basement, straight-headed sash windows with fanlights on the ground floor and arched sash windows with fanlights on the first floor; all placed in wooden frames with keystones, abstracted capitals and cassettes. The band courses run through the lower part of the windows and form there the upper edge of wooden balustrades, which are positioned as parapets in the windows in front of the panes.
The front facade (south) facing Nuovaweg has two broad window axes, of which the left risalits. Above the left window axis a framed dormer with curved pediment has been placed in the roof. To the left, set far back, is a plastered projecting facade section (see west facade) with on the side facade on the south side a tall double wooden entrance (panel) door with fanlight on a hardstone step.
The right side facade (east) has one bay with to its left the conservatory to which is attached a balcony with iron balcony railing. In the bay two coupled windows, above the gutter terminated by a curved pediment, which is interrupted by an obelisk.
The rear facade (north) is divided into three parts and in main lines symmetrical. The central facade section risalits slightly and is plastered. To the right of it only the facade on the ground floor is plastered. In this least representative facade straight-headed windows without frames.
The left side facade (west) is constructed from an entirely plastered risaliet on the left and a broad window axis on the right. The risaliet has three window axes; in the roof section a framed dormer with curved pediment.
In the INTERIOR of the villa the following have been preserved amongst others: tile floors and marble floors in hall and corridor, abstract stucco on the walls, stucco ceilings with Louis XIV ornaments, suite doors, a wooden staircase with iron staircase handrail and balustrades, keystones, wooden floors, tall wooden plinths, door posts and panel doors.
