Inleiding
Aan de lobvormige vijver in het park staat een ZITBANK, onderdeel van het complex van de Martastichting, in een Expressionistische vormgeving. Aanleiding tot de bouw van de bank is vermeld op een gedenksteen: "De burgerij van Alphen aan den Rijn aan Ds. A.W. Voors, 1907. Bij zijn afscheid als predikant, directeur 1935".
Omschrijving
De zitbank bestaat uit in rode baksteen opgetrokken muurtjes met kunststenen afdekplaten en gemetselde plantenbakken waartegen houten zittingen en rugleuningen zijn bevestigd. Het is opgebouwd uit een rechte lange bank en geknikte zijarmen met korte banken; daarvoor een iets verhoogde bestrating. Boven de centrale bank een kunststenen fries met inscriptie (zie inleiding). Aan weerszijden van het fries gemetselde holle pijlers.
De verschillende hoogtes van de gemetselde volumes, de rollagen in het metselwerk en de kunststenen afdekplaten geven de bank een architectonische uitstraling.

De zitbank is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde te weten de Expressionistische vormgeving
In stedenbouwkundig opzicht is de zitbank van algemeen belang vanwege de functionele en ruimtelijke samenhang met de onderdelen van het complex van de Marthastichting die in het park staan.

Introduction
At the lobed pond in the park stands a BENCH, part of the complex of the Martha Foundation, in an Expressionist design. The occasion for the construction of the bench is noted on a commemorative stone: "The citizens of Alphen aan den Rijn to Reverend A.W. Voors, 1907. Upon his departure as minister, director 1935".
Description
The bench consists of small walls constructed in red brick with artificial stone coping plates and mortared planter boxes against which wooden seating and backrests are attached. It is built up from a long straight bench and angled side arms with short benches; in front of this is a slightly raised paved area. Above the central bench is an artificial stone frieze with inscription (see introduction). On either side of the frieze are mortared hollow pillars.
The varying heights of the mortared volumes, the course lines in the brickwork and the artificial stone coping plates give the bench an architectural character.
Valuation
The bench is of general interest because of its architectural-historical value, namely the Expressionist design.
