Inleiding
In 1932 gebouwd KERKGEBOUW met kosterswoning voor de Nederlands Hervormde Gemeente van Slootdorp, gesitueerd aan de oostzijde van de Brink. In 1946 na inundatieschade hersteld door architect G. van Hoogevest te Amersfoort, die vermoedelijk ook het oorspronkelijke kerkontwerp leverde.
Het orgel is uitgesloten van de bescherming van rijkswege.
Omschrijving
Op L-vormig grondplan opgetrokken klein kerkgebouw met kosterswoning. De zaalkerk wordt afgedekt met een laag komend zadeldak met de noklijn in oost-west richting en heeft een toren op het westen. Haaks op de oostzijde (achterzijde) bevindt zich het rechthoekige éénlaags volume van de kosterswoning onder zadeldak met noord-zuid gerichte noklijn en lagere nokhoogte en kapvoet. Alle dakschilden zijn met zwarte Hollandse pannen gedekt. De kerk telt vier traveeën, verdeeld door drie schuin uitgemetselde steunberen.
De centraal op de voorgevel staande (ingekapselde) toren heeft een steil en overstekend zadeldak gedekt door zwarte Hollandse pannen, waarvan de noklijn in het verlengde ligt van de noklijn van de hoofdkap. De overluifelde hoofdingang van de kerk met dubbele houten deur bevindt zich centraal in de voorgevel. Hoog boven de hoofdingang heeft de voorgevel een klein rechthoekig venster. Rechts naast de hoofdingang is een steen ter herdenking aan de bouw ingemetseld.
De aangebouwde kosterswoning is een rechthoekig bouwvolume met driedelige vensters en een eenvoudige paneeldeur onder luifel. De noordelijke kopgevel is blind. Het gedeelte van de kosterswoning tegen de achtermuur van de kerk bevat de consistoriekamer met bovenwoning. Het zuidelijk dakschild heeft ter hoogte van de consistoriekamer een hoge schoorsteen en een dakkapel.
Het sobere, merendeels gaaf bewaard gebleven interieur van de kerk heeft in het zicht gelaten spanten, een beschoten kap, een oorspronkelijk bankenplan, een oorspronkelijke preekstoel en oorspronkelijk glas-in-lood bestaande uit rechthoekige ruitjes in diverse kleuren. Description
Small church building constructed on an L-shaped plan with caretaker's dwelling. The hall church is covered with a low gabled roof with the ridge line running east-west and has a tower on the west. Perpendicular to the east side (rear) is situated the rectangular single-storey volume of the caretaker's dwelling under a gabled roof with north-south oriented ridge line and lower ridge height and rafter foot. All roof tiles are covered with black Dutch tiles. The church comprises four bays, divided by three slanted buttresses.
The (encapsulated) tower standing centrally on the front facade has a steep and overhanging gabled roof covered with black Dutch tiles, of which the ridge line is in line with the ridge line of the main roof. The canopied main entrance of the church with double wooden door is situated centrally in the front facade. High above the main entrance the front facade has a small rectangular window. To the right of the main entrance a stone commemorating the construction is mortared in.
The attached caretaker's dwelling is a rectangular building volume with three-part windows and a simple panel door under canopy. The northern gable is blind. The part of the caretaker's dwelling against the rear wall of the church contains the consistory room with living space above. The southern roof slope has a high chimney at the height of the consistory room and a roof dormer.
The austere, largely well-preserved interior of the church has exposed trusses, a boarded roof, an original bench arrangement, an original pulpit and original stained glass consisting of rectangular panes in various colours. The outline of the tower is recognisable in the interior.
Valuation
Church building with attached caretaker's dwelling of general importance due to cultural and architectural historical value as an early, austerely executed and well-preserved example of church construction from the initial period of the Wieringermeerpolder. The small church has situational value because of its urban planning location at the Brink.
