Inleiding
RENTMEESTERSHUIS annex KOETSHUIS en PAARDENSTAL uit ca 1870 met latere uitbreidingen. Het geheel is gebouwd voor industrieel Hubertus Paulus Hoevenaar Jr. de toenmalige bewoner/eigenaar van kasteel Geldrop, die suikerfabrieken in Nederlands-Indie exploiteerde.
Omschrijving
Het monument bestaat uit twee bouwlagen onder twee gekoppelde parallelle zadeldaken met houten windveren. Onder het ene dak bevindt zich het rentmeestershuis en onder het andere de paardenstal. Aan de noord- en oostkant zijn respectievelijk een schuur en koetshuis aangebouwd. Het geheel is opgetrokken uit baksteen gemetseld in kruisverband. De pilastergevels bevatten rond- en segmentboogvormige muuropeningen. Het interieur van de paardenstal is nog geheel intact met kraamkamer, voersilo, ruif en drinkbak. De paardekribben zijn onderling gescheiden door een gebogen ijzeren hek met op de kop een gietijzeren kolom. De inrichting van de stal is afkomstig van de Engelse ijzergieterij Musgrave's en Co uit Londen en Belfast. Op de verdieping bevond zich de hooizolder en slaapplaats voor de stalknecht.
Waardering
Het rentmeestershuis annex koetshuis en paardestal van de buitenplaats Kasteel Geldrop is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling en uitgroei van buitenplaatsen in de negentiende en vroeg twintigste eeuw, uitgaande van een ouder kasteel met aangehorigheden. STEWARD'S HOUSE adjoining COACHHOUSE and HORSE STABLE from circa 1870 with later extensions. The whole was built for industrialist Hubertus Paulus Hoevenaar Jr., the then resident/owner of Kasteel Geldrop, who operated sugar factories in the Dutch East Indies.
Description
The monument consists of two storeys under two coupled parallel gabled roofs with wooden wind braces. Under one roof is situated the steward's house and under the other the horse stable. On the north and east sides a barn and coachhouse have been respectively added. The whole is constructed of brick laid in English bond. The pilaster gables contain round and segmental arched wall openings. The interior of the horse stable is still completely intact with foaling room, feed silo, manger and drinking trough. The horse stalls are separated from each other by a curved iron fence with a cast-iron column on the top. The fittings of the stable are from the English iron foundry Musgrave's and Co from London and Belfast. On the upper storey was the hay loft and sleeping place for the stable hand.
Valuation
The steward's house adjoining coachhouse and horse stable of the country estate Kasteel Geldrop is of general importance.
