Inleiding
(Voormalige) ARBEIDERSWONING uit circa 1885, bijzonder in het landschap gesitueerd op de overgang tussen het duin- en polderlandschap, aan de zuidwestzijde van het Hargergat. N.B. De latere aanbouw tegen de achtergevel maakt geen deel uit van de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Op rechthoekig grondplan opgetrokken woonhuis van één bouwlaag onder een zadeldak gedekt met rode Hollandse pannen. De gevels zijn geblokt gepleisterd. Bovenlangs de voor- en achtergevel bevindt zich een bakgoot op klossen (vroeger een blokgoot). De kopse zijgevels zijn uitgevoerd als topgevel en voorzien van rechte windveren, een makelaar en twee schootankers ter hoogte van de zoldervloer. In de voorgevel (NO) bevindt zich links van het midden een paneeldeur met vierruits raam. De rechterzijgevel (NW) heeft links twee kleine gekoppelde vierruits vensters en middenboven een stolpraam. De linkerzijgevel (ZO) is op de begane grond voorzien van twee kleine tweedelige vensters met openslaande ramen en op de verdieping van een paneeldeurtje met twee ramen naast elkaar en een drieruits bovenlicht. Links naast het rechter venster op de begane grond bevindt zich een derde schootanker. De achtergevel (ZW) was vroeger gesloten. In het interieur zijn de uit brede vloerdelen samengestelde vloeren nog aanwezig. De zoldervloer rust op een enkelvoudige balklaag.
Waardering
De voormalige arbeiderswoning is van algemeen belang wegens cultuurhistorische en typologische waarde als merendeels gaaf bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van een eenvoudige arbeiderswoning uit het laatste kwart van de negentiende eeuw. De woning heeft tevens situationele waarde vanwege de bijzondere ligging op de overgang van het duingebied en het polderlandschap ten westen van Groet.

(Former) WORKERS' DWELLING from circa 1885, distinctly situated in the landscape at the transition between the dune and polder landscape, on the southwest side of the Hargergat. N.B. The later extension against the rear facade is not part of the protection.
Description
Dwelling erected on a rectangular ground plan of one storey under a gabled roof covered with red Dutch tiles. The facades are rendered in ashlar patterns. Along the top of the front and rear facades is a brick gutter on brackets (formerly a block gutter). The gable end facades are executed as stepped gables and provided with straight wind vanes, a scroll and two wall anchors at the height of the attic floor. In the front facade (NE) on the left of centre is a panel door with a four-pane window. The right side facade (NW) has on the left two small coupled four-pane windows and at mid-height above a pivot window. The left side facade (SE) has on the ground floor two small two-part windows with opening sashes and on the first floor a panel door with two windows next to each other and a three-pane fanlight. To the left of the right window on the ground floor is a third wall anchor. The rear facade (SW) was formerly closed. In the interior the floors assembled from wide floor boards are still present. The attic floor rests on a single beam layer.
Valuation
The former workers' dwelling is of general importance for its cultural-historical and typological value as a largely well-preserved example of a simple workers' dwelling from the last quarter of the nineteenth century. The dwelling also has situational value because of its distinctive location at the transition of the dune area and the polder landscape west of Groet.
