Inleiding
Buitendijks, in een bocht van de dijk, aan de rivier de Lek gelegen complex van voormalig veerhuis met SCHUUR (2). Het veerhuis functioneert tegenwoordig als veerhuis met woning onder de naam 'Café Welgelegen'. Het veerhuis is volgens een datumsteen gebouwd in 1875 en wordt gekenmerkt door een Traditioneel-Ambachtelijke bouwstijl. Het voormalige veerhuis wordt vergezeld door een in een vergelijkbare stijl gebouwde SCHUUR(2), die waarschijnlijk ook uit 1875 dateert.
Omschrijving
De hoofdmassa van de schuur heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en staat onder een zadeldak. Tegen de kopgevel aan de wegzijde staan een grotere (links) en een kleinere uitbouw onder lessenaardak. De daken zijn gedekt met Hollandse pannen. De naar de weg gerichte gevel van de linker uitbouw bevat een getoogd venster met gietijzeren raam met roedenverdeling. De rechter uitbouw is aan deze zijde voorzien van een rechtgesloten deur. De kopgevel van het hoofdvolume is een puntgevel met vlechtingen, staafankers en een halfrond venster met gestileerde plantenmotieven in het gietijzeren raam. De westzijde van de schuur is blind. De achterste kopgevel bevat op de begane grond twee getoogde gietijzeren ramen als die in de voorste kopgevel en een uitbouw (gemak?) met naar de woning gerichte deur. Hierboven een beschoten geveltop van gepotdekselde planken met luikopening. De op de woning georiënteerde langsgevel bevat rechts een enkele deur onder gedeeld bovenlicht en links daarvan een dubbele inrijdeur, die alle onder rollaag staan.
