Omschrijving onderdeel 2: HISTORISCHE PARK- EN TUINAANLEG.
Het terrein voor het huis is eenvoudig ingericht met een cirkelvormig gazon, een rondgaand pad en enkele solitairen, waaronder een plataan en een kastanje. Opvallend is het hoogteverschil, waardoor het huis enigszins op een heuvel lijkt te liggen. Langs de voorzijde loopt een sloot die door vergraving en verbreding het aanzien van een bescheiden slingervijver heeft gekregen. Een belangrijk element is het vrije zicht over het tegenoverliggende, door bomen omzoomde weiland. Halverwege de bosschages aan de zuidzijde van deze weide is nog een doorzicht naar het erachter gelegen weiland uitgespaard. In de bomensingel is een rondgaande wandeling aangelegd. De voormalige tuinmanswoning aan de oostzijde is tegenwoordig in eigendom afgescheiden. Een laan, die langs de oostzijde van de buitenplaats loopt, verbindt de tuinmanswoning met het park van Klein Jagtlust. Het eerste deel van deze laan is beplant met linden. Via twee haakse hoeken sluit dit deel aan op de met kastanjes beplante laan achter het huis, die doorloopt tot aan de Prins Bernardweg. De eerste haakse hoek wordt gemarkeerd door een heuveltje waarop een solitaire beuk staat. Onder dit heuveltje zou zich een ijskelder bevinden. Ongeveer halverwege het eerste deel van de laan is een doorgang of zichtas op het huis. Dit doorzicht is tegenwoordig deels dichtgegroeid. Het terrein achter de tuinmanswoning was oorspronkelijk ingericht als boomgaard en moestuin. Inmiddels is dit deel dichtgegroeid met opslag, net als de directe omgeving van het tuinmanshuis. De eenvoudige aanleg van het terrein achter het hoofdgebouw is in de loop der tijd veranderd. Zo is er midden in het zuidelijke hertenkamp een grote groep rododendrons geplant. Ten westen daarvan heeft de huidige eigenaar, Smilde Onroerend Goed B.V., een structuur van hagen gerealiseerd, die geen historische grondslag heeft. Het noordelijke hertenkamp is opgegaan in de tuinaanleg en tennisbaan bij het in 1988 gerealiseerde woonhuis. De parkaanleg achter het hoofdgebouw valt visueel in twee delen uiteen. Karakteristiek voor het zuidelijke, nog vrij oorspronkelijke deel direct achter het huis, zijn het heuvelachtige profiel en twee monumentale boomcirkels, één van linden en één van rode beuken. De westelijke cirkel (rode beuk) is door brand deels verwoest. De huidige eigenaar, Smilde Onroerend Goed B.V., heeft ten noordwesten van de oorspronkelijke cirkel van rode beuken een kleinere groep groene beuken laten planten. Ook deze ingreep heeft geen historische grondslag. Het noordelijke deel van de parkaanleg bestaat uit grote grasvelden, in het westen beplant met eerder genoemde hagen, in het oosten beplant met een grote groep rododendrons en omzoomd door landschappelijk slingerbos en de kastanjelaan aan de oostzijde. Dit oostelijke deel is een voormalig hertenkamp. Ongeveer halverwege de kastanjelaan steekt een tweede laan tussen geaccidenteerd terrein van kleine heuveltjes het perceel dwars over.
Waardering
De HISTORISCHE PARK- EN TUINAANLEG is van belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;
- als voorbeeld van een 19de eeuws dilettantisch aangelegd, deels geaccidenteerd, landschappelijk park, met oud geboomte, slingerbos, oude lanen en hertenkampen, waarbij de persoonlijke smaak en liefhebberij van de eigenaar van grote invloed zijn geweest op het uiteindelijke ontwerp;
- vanwege de beide monumentale boomcirkels achter het huis, waarvan de één bestaat uit linden en de ander (deels uitgebrand) uit rode beuk;
- vanwege het gezicht op de weide aan de overzijde van de Koningin Julianaweg;
- vanwege de samenhang met het hoofdgebouw als compositorisch middelpunt van de parkaanleg, met diverse gezichten van het huis in het park en vice versa;
- vanwege de functioneel- en visueel-ruimtelijke samenhang met de andere onderdelen van de buitenplaats;
- vanwege de beeldbepalende, landschappelijke en cultuurhistorische waarde van de parkaanleg voor de omgeving van Oranjewoud.

Description of component 2: HISTORIC PARK AND GARDEN LAYOUT.
The terrain in front of the house is simply laid out with a circular lawn, a perimeter path and several specimen trees, including a plane tree and a chestnut. Striking is the height difference, which makes the house appear to lie somewhat on a hill. Along the front runs a ditch which, by excavation and widening, has taken on the appearance of a modest winding ornamental pool. An important element is the open view over the opposite meadow, bordered by trees. Halfway along the tree belts on the south side of this meadow, a further sight line to the meadow behind it has been preserved. A perimeter walk has been laid out in the tree belt. The former gardener's cottage on the east side is now owned separately. A lane, which runs along the east side of the country estate, connects the gardener's cottage with the park of Klein Jagtlust. The first section of this lane is planted with lime trees. Via two right angles this section connects to the lane planted with chestnut trees behind the house, which continues to the Prins Bernardweg. The first right angle is marked by a small hill on which a solitary beech stands. Beneath this hillock is said to be an ice house. Approximately halfway along the first section of the lane is a passage or sight axis to the house. This view is nowadays partly overgrown. The terrain behind the gardener's cottage was originally laid out as an orchard and vegetable garden.
