Inleiding
De voorzijde van de woning (mogelijk gebouwd als burgemeesterswoning) aan de Galamagracht wordt door een natuurstenen stoep met gietijzeren HEK en bakstenen MUUR begrensd die tegelijkertijd met de woning zijn ontworpen in 1868.

Het hek bestaat uit vier delen: de twee delen links en rechts vóór de voorgevel sluiten aan op de uiteinden ervan. Het hoge hekdeel vóór de steeg ten noorden van het pand is aan de muur bevestigd, die vanaf de stoep doorloopt tot aan een bouwsel dat bij nr. 44 hoort en de steeg afsluit. Dit hek bestaat uit een beweegbaar deel van dunne, hoge spijlen die doorkruist worden door een voluutmotief en aan de bovenzijde door een gietijzeren, gekrulde afsluiting met puint. De muur is uit bruine baksteen opgetrokken.
