Inleiding
Het GEMAAL nr. 24 aan het Hissemeer bij Abbega is in 1927 gebouwd in een Ambachtelijk-traditionele bouwtrant. Het Waterschap Heeg, dat in 1918 werd opgericht, verving rond 1925 alle in zijn gebied liggende windmolens door 29 elektrische gemalen. Zij waren alle van hetzelfde type, maar met twee varianten. De combinatie met de energiebron kon eenhuizig zijn of tweehuizig, zoals hier aan het Hissemeer het geval is. De stroom werd vanaf het transformatorhuis aan de weg, via de bovengrondse leiding aan telefoonpalen naar het gemaal geleid. Dit gemaal is één van de weinig exemplaren dat nog steeds in combinatie met het oorspronkelijke transformatorhuis in werking is. Het bevindt zich ten zuiden van het dorp Abbega, in de polder, aan de oever van het Hissemeer, in de verlenging van de Twiska, de weg die vanaf het dorp in zuidelijke richting loopt en loodrecht op het ontmoetingspunt van de Pikesyl en de Hissedyk uitkomt. Het gemaal is naar het noorden georinteerd. Leverancier van de bovenbouw was het Landbouwhuis te Sneek.
Omschrijving
Het gemaal bestaat uit een onderbouw en een bovenbouw. De onderbouw omvat de vloeren, de wanden en vleugels, alle van gewapend beton. Aan de noordzijde is, in de verlenging van de betonnen wand, een kroosrek aangebracht. De kolkputten bevinden zich tussen de vleugelwanden en de bovenbouw: hierboven zijn roosters gelegd. In de zuidelijke kolk is van boven de schroef zichtbaar. De onderbouw wordt aan de oost- en westzijde begrensd door houten hekken. Aan de westzijde staat een houten bovenleidingspaal. De bovenbouw bestaat uit een 'huis' van bruine baksteen op een rechthoekige plattegrond, dat gedekt wordt door een zadeldak met rode dakpannen. Aan de noordzijde zit een rechthoekig raam met vierruits roedenverdeling. In de oostgevel is, boven twee betonnen treden, een metalen deur ingebracht. In de achtergevel zit een rechthoekig raam met vierruits roedenverdeling en een kleiner verticaal raampje in de top. De westgevel is blind(?). De pomp is een verticale schroefpomp, direct elektrisch aangedreven, volautomatisch sinds ca. 1970; de motor een EMF-Dordt, 10PK, 480 omw. min., 380-660 V.
Waardering
Het gemaal nr. 24 aan het Hissemeer is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang:
- als bijzondere uitdrukking van een technische en typologische ontwikkeling;
- als essentieel onderdeel van een groter geheel, te weten een complex bestaande uit gemaal, bovenleiding en transformatorhuis, dat cultuurhistorisch van nationaal belang is;
- vanwege de situering en de historisch-ruimtelijke relatie met het water en de bodemgesteldheid;

The PUMPING STATION no. 24 at the Hissemeer near Abbega was built in 1927 in a Craft-traditional building style. The Waterschap Heeg, which was established in 1918, replaced around 1925 all the windmills in its area with 29 electric pumping stations. They were all of the same type, but with two variants. The combination with the energy source could be single-building or double-building, as is the case here at the Hissemeer. The current was conducted from the transformer house at the road, via the overhead line on telephone poles to the pumping station. This pumping station is one of the few specimens that still operates in combination with the original transformer house. It is located south of the village of Abbega, in the polder, on the shore of the Hissemeer, in the extension of the Twiska, the road that runs south from the village and reaches perpendicularly at the meeting point of the Pikesyl and the Hissedyk. Description
The pumping station consists of a substructure and a superstructure. The substructure comprises the floors, the walls and wings, all of reinforced concrete. On the north side, in the extension of the concrete wall, a trash rack has been installed. The sump pits are located between the wing walls and the superstructure: grilles have been laid above these. In the east gable is a metal door set above two concrete steps. In the rear gable is a rectangular window with four-pane glazing bars and a smaller vertical pane at the top. The west gable is blank(?). The pump is a vertical screw pump, directly electrically driven, fully automatic since circa 1970; the motor an EMF-Dordt, 10HP, 480 rpm, 380-660 V.

The pumping station no. 24 at the Hissemeer is of general cultural-historical significance:
