OPHAALBRUG, hoofdonderdeel van het complex Spanjaardsbrug, daterend uit 1933.
Omschrijving
De stalen bovenbouw van de ophaalbrug rust op betonnen landhoofden bekleed met gele baksteen. Stalen liggers, houten brugdek. Eén doorvaaropening met een hoogte van 2.41 meter en een breedte van 10.50 meter. Daarnaast nog één stroomkoker. Het brugdek is 10.00 meter breed, met een rijweg van 6 meter en twee trottoirs van 2 meter. Geklonken gesloten hameistijlen en vakwerk balanspriemen, verbonden door raamwerk liggers. Stalen deuren in de hameistijlen. Lantaarns met abstracte decoraties in top op de brug. De kademuren staan haaks op de brug. IJzeren hekwerk op de brug en op de landhoofden. Het bouwjaar en de naam van de brug zijn in keramiek in de landhoofden aangebracht. Verder zijn de kademuren afgewerkt met geruwde granieten dekstenen, sierstenen en schampstenen.
Waardering
De Spanjaardsbrug is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als representatief voorbeeld van een ophaalbrug met dubbele hameistijlen uit de jaren '20 tot '40 van de twintigste eeuw. In stedebouwkundig opzicht is de brug van belang vanwege de beeldbepalende ligging op de grens van twee gemeenten en de kruising van drie waterlopen. De brug is grotendeels gaaf.

The steel superstructure of the lift bridge rests on concrete abutments clad with yellow brick. Steel girders, wooden bridge deck. One navigable opening with a height of 2.41 metres and a width of 10.50 metres. Additionally one weir gate. The bridge deck is 10.00 metres wide, with a roadway of 6 metres and two pavements of 2 metres. Riveted closed vertical stiffeners and framework balance beams, connected by frame girders. Steel doors in the vertical stiffeners. Lanterns with abstract decorations at the top on the bridge. The quay walls stand perpendicular to the bridge. Iron railings on the bridge and on the abutments. The construction year and the name of the bridge are incorporated in ceramic in the abutments. Further, the quay walls are finished with roughened granite coping stones, decorative stones and ashlar stones.

The Spanjaardsbrug is of general importance because of cultural and architectural-historical value as a representative example of a lift bridge with double vertical stiffeners from the 1920s to 1940s of the twentieth century.
