TRANSFORMATORGEBOUW met URINOIR uit 1929-30 in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School, onderdeel van het complex de Grote Havenbrug.
Omschrijving
Het transformatorgebouw met urinoir is opgetrokken over twee bouwlagen in beton met een bekleding van rode baksteen, op een plattegrond van twee in elkaar geplaatste cirkels, onder een plat betonnen dak. Aan de straatkant (oost) een gemetselde bank en de stalen deur van het transformatorgedeelte. Aan de waterkant (west) een trap rond de gevel naar het niveau van het water. Op dit niveau toegang tot het urinoir. IJzeren trapleuning in vormgeving van Amsterdamse School. Lateien van grindbeton als daklijst en boven deur en toegang.
Het wapen van Leiden en "AO 1930" in keramische tegels, in de muur tussen de brug en het transformatorgebouw met urinoir. Aan de waterkant is in granieten blokken de inscriptie "Groote Havenbrug" aangebracht.
Waardering
Het transformatorgebouw met urinoir van de Grote Havenbrug is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuu- en architectuurhistorische waarde wegens typologie en vormgeving in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School.
Stedebouwkundig is het transformatorgebouw met urinoir van belang vanwege de beeldbepalende ligging op een punt waar vier waterwegen elkaar ontmoeten en vanwege de visuele en functionele relatie met de brug en het brugwachtershuisje met politiepost.

Description
The transformer building with urinal is constructed over two storeys in concrete with a cladding of red brick, on a floor plan of two circles placed within each other, under a flat concrete roof. On the street side (east) a masonry bench and the steel door of the transformer section. On the waterside (west) a staircase running around the facade to water level. Access to the urinal at this level. Iron stair rail in Amsterdam School design. Lintels of aggregate concrete serving as cornice and above door and entrance.
The coat of arms of Leiden and "AO 1930" in ceramic tiles, in the wall between the bridge and the transformer building with urinal. On the waterside the inscription "Groote Havenbrug" is rendered in granite blocks.
