Inleiding
BRUGWACHTERSHUISJE met POLITIEPOST uit 1929-30 in Amsterdamse Schoolstijl, onderdeel van het complex de Grote Havenbrug.
Omschrijving
Het brugwachtershuisje met politiepost is opgetrokken over twee bouwlagen in beton met een bekleding van rode baksteen, op een boonvormige plattegrond, onder een plat betonnen dak. Aan de waterkant (noord) een sterk concave gevel, aan de straatkant (zuid) een flauw convexe gevel. De halfronde korte gevels (oost en west) lopen in een vloeiende lijn over in de lange gevels.
Aan de kant van de brug (oost) steekt de begane grond ver uit voor de eerste verdieping. Vensters in houten kozijnen met smalle horizontale bovenlichten en waterdorpels van ongepolijst graniet. Diefijzers op kleine vensters aan straat- en waterkant. In het lage deel een deur naar het gedeelte van de brugwachter, in het hoge deel de deur van de politiepost. Lateien van grindbeton als daklijst en boven vensters. In het brugwachtersdeel nog een betegelde schouw met blauwe en zwarte tegels.
Waardering
Het brugwachtershuisje met politiepost van de Grote Havenbrug is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde wegens typologie en vormgeving in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School. Bovendien is de combinatie van een brugwachtershuisje en een politiepost in één gebouw zeldzaam.
Stedebouwkundig is het brugwachtershuisje van belang vanwege de beeldbepalende ligging op een punt waar vier waterwegen elkaar ontmoeten en vanwege de visuele en functionele relatie met de brug en het transformatorhuisje-urinoir.
Het huisje is vrijwel gaaf.

Description
The bridgkeeper's lodge with police post is constructed over two storeys in concrete with a cladding of red brick, on a bean-shaped floor plan, under a flat concrete roof. On the waterside (north) a strongly concave facade, on the street side (south) a gently convex facade. The semi-circular short facades (east and west) flow smoothly into the long facades.
On the bridge side (east) the ground floor projects far out beyond the first storey. Windows in wooden frames with narrow horizontal fanlights and water drips of unpolished granite. Burglar bars on small windows on the street and waterside. In the low part a door to the bridgekeeper's section, in the high part the door of the police post. Lintels of aggregate concrete serving as cornice and above windows. In the bridgekeeper's section still a tiled chimney breast with blue and black tiles.
