Omschrijving
PORTIERSWONING in Engels neogotische stijl, van de buitenplaats Sandwijck, gelegen aan het begin van de oprijlaan. Het huis heeft anderhalve bouwlaag en is onderkelderd. Het bestaat uit twee bouwvolumes, waarvan het voorste een vierkante grondvorm heeft en wordt gedekt door een plat dak. Een omgaande balustrade met imitatie hekwerk sluit de gevel af. Het daarachter gelegen bouwvolume heeft een rechthoekige grondvorm en wordt door een zadeldak waarin moderne dakramen, met grijze Hollandse pannen gedekt. De gevels zijn voorzien van een bepleistering, waarin imitatievoegen (blokken) zijn getrokken. Tegen de buitenhoeken van de woning zijn overhoeks steunberen met ezelsrug- en driepasbekroning gezet.
De voorgevel (noorden) heeft een in het midden geplaatste driezijdig, erker op gedecoreerde consoles. De plint van de erker heeft aan elke zijde twee verdiept liggende velden, waarboven aan elke zijde een keperboogvormig venster zit. Onder de erker bevindt zich een kelderlicht. Boven de erker heeft de gevel een drielichtsvenster met penanten. De achtergevel is een topgevel van twee vensterassen breed. De vensters in de eerste bouwlaag hebben wenkbrauwen. In de top is een drielichtsvenster met penanten gezet. De overstekende dakschilden rusten op gesneden houten consoles.
De rechter zijgevel heeft links een venster met wenkbrauw, waarboven een liggend rechthoekig venster. Rechts hiervan, direct naast de overgang van beide bouwvolumes, bevindt zich een portiek met ingangspartij. De portiek is aan drie zijden met Tudorbogen opengewerkt en heeft een onregelmatige kanteelbeëindiging. De hoeksteunberen steken hierboven uit en hebben een ezelsrug, boven het driepasmotief als vulling onder de schuine zijden.
Rechts van de ingangspartij zit in de gevel een venster met wenkbrauw, waarboven een liggend rechthoekig venster. De linker zijgevel heeft twee vierkante vensters als latere toevoeging.
Waardering
De portierswoning van de buitenplaats Sandwijck is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde als gaaf voorbeeld van een neogotische portierswoning, alsmede vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde door oorspronkelijke functie. Tevens vanwege de ruimtelijk-functionele en ensemblewaarde in relatie met de overige complexonderdelen van de buitenplaats.

PORTER'S LODGE in English neogothic style, from the country estate Sandwijck, located at the beginning of the drive. The house has one-and-a-half storeys and is cellared. It consists of two building volumes, the front one of which has a square ground plan and is covered by a flat roof. An encircling balustrade with imitation railwork closes off the facade. The building volume behind it has a rectangular ground plan and is covered by a gabled roof with modern roof lights, with grey Dutch tiles. The facades are provided with render, in which imitation mortar joints (blocks) are drawn. Against the outer corners of the house are placed diagonally positioned buttresses with donkey-back and three-lobe finials.
The front facade (north) has a three-sided oriel window placed in the middle on decorated consoles. The plinth of the oriel has two recessed fields on each side, above which on each side is a herringbone-arched window. Below the oriel is a cellar light. Above the oriel the facade has a three-light window with mullions. The rear facade is a gable of two window bays wide. The windows in the first storey have eyebrows. At the gable is a three-light window with mullions. The overhanging roof skirts rest on carved wooden consoles.
The right side facade has on the left a window with eyebrow, above which a horizontal rectangular window. To the right of this, directly next to the transition of both building volumes, is a portico with entrance feature. The portico is opened on three sides with Tudor arches and has an irregular crenellated finish. The corner buttresses project above this and have a donkey-back, above the three-lobe motif as filling under the sloping sides.
To the right of the entrance feature sits in the facade a window with eyebrow, above which a horizontal rectangular window. The left side facade has two square windows as a later addition.

The porter's lodge of the country estate Sandwijck is of general importance because of the architectural-historical value as a well-preserved example of a neogothic porter's lodge, as well as because of the cultural-historical value through original function. Also because of the spatial-functional and ensemble value in relation to the other complex components of the country estate.
