Inleiding
In Amsterdamse Schoolstijl opgetrokken WATERTOREN, gelegen in de rooilijn van de Amsterdamsestraatweg en gebouwd in 1916 in opdracht van de Utrechtsche Waterleiding Maatschappij.
N.B. De watertoren, die zijn oorspronkelijke functie verloren heeft, is sedert enige jaren in gebruik als kantoor- en woonruimte. Het interieur is daartoe aangepast.
Omschrijving
Geheel in baksteen opgetrokken, 42 meter hoge watertoren op ronde plattegrond met een waterreservoir van 1000 kubieke meter en een 16-kantig kegeldak met lantaarn. Portiekvormige kunststenen ingang (noordoostzijde) op de begane grond met aan weerszijden gemetselde muurtjes met kunststenen banden, daarboven het begin van de schacht met daarin 8 grote pilasters en daartussen evenzoveel spaarvelden met sleufvormige vensters. Daarboven het iets uitkragende reservoir met 16 sleufvormige vensters. De overgang van schacht naar reservoir wordt benadrukt door een fries met vierkante vensters tussen kunststenen korte pilasters. Een vergelijkbare vensterring accentueert de overgang van schacht naar dak. Recht boven de erkervormige ingang bevindt zich ter hoogte van de overgang van schacht naar reservoir een erker.

WATER TOWER built in Amsterdam School style, located in the building line of the Amsterdamsestraatweg and constructed in 1916 on behalf of the Utrechtsche Waterleiding Maatschappij.

Description
Water tower constructed entirely of brick, 42 metres high on a round plan with a water reservoir of 1000 cubic metres and a 16-sided conical roof with lantern. Portico-shaped stone entrance (north-east side) on the ground floor with stone-banded walls of masonry on either side, above this the beginning of the shaft with 8 large pilasters and between them the same number of recessed fields with slot-shaped windows. Above this the slightly projecting reservoir with 16 slot-shaped windows. The transition from shaft to reservoir is emphasised by a frieze with square windows between short stone pilasters. A comparable window ring accentuates the transition from shaft to roof. Directly above the bay-shaped entrance, at the height of the transition from shaft to reservoir, there is a bay window.
