Inleiding
In 1935 tot BIOSCOOP verbouwd ouder pand op de hoek van Drift en Voorstraat, in de stijl van de Nieuwe Zakelijkheid naar ontwerp van de architecten N. Andriessen en J. van der Weele.
Omschrijving
Hoekpand op nagenoeg rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaat uit twee gestapelde blokvormige bouwdelen. De aan twee zijden vrijliggende gevels zijn overwegend gesloten. Het geheel met plat dak. Geheel met witgeschilderd spuitpleister bedekte gevels met twee trappenhuizen met karakteristieke boven elkaar gesitueerde rondvensters en glasstroken, verhoogd tot ranke pyloon. De trappenhuizen zijn gesitueerd op de overgang met de naastgelegen bebouwing zowel aan de Drift als aan de Voorstraatzijde. Iets terugliggende begane grond met -vernieuwde- ingang aan Voorstraatzijde en rechts een reeks vitrinekasten. Aan de Driftzijde ijzeren nooddeuren. Langs gehele eerste bouwlaag een betonnen rand, boven de vitrinekasten rechts lager gesitueerd.
In de gevel aan Driftzijde diverse horizontale vensterreeksen uitgevoerd in hout en staal. Hoge zaal, terugliggend oprijzend vanuit de bouwmassa, met sculpturaal gevelelement aan Voorstraatzijde met daarin twee vlaggenhouders. Indeling van het interieur met foyer op eerste en tweede verdieping aan de Driftzijde, grote bioscoopzaal aan de Voorstraatzijde. Indeling enigszins gewijzigd. Voorts nog aanwezig enkele waardevolle onderdelen als het stalen trappenhuis aan de Driftzijde, de lambrizering en de diverse lichtornamenten in de bioscoopzalen.
Waardering
Tot bioscoop verbouwd ouder pand van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde als gaaf en karakteristiek voorbeeld van een bioscoop met invloeden van de Nieuwe Zakelijkheid. Van cultuurhistorische waarde vanwege de bestemming welke is verbonden met de geschiedenis van de bioscoop in Nederland.

Corner building on an approximately rectangular floor plan, consisting of two stacked block-shaped structural elements. The facades, which are exposed on two sides, are predominantly closed. The whole with a flat roof. All facades covered with white-painted spray plaster with two staircases with characteristic round windows placed one above the other and glass strips, elevated to form slender pylons. The staircases are situated at the transition with the adjoining buildings on both the Drift side and the Voorstraat side. Slightly recessed ground floor with a renewed entrance on the Voorstraat side and to the right a series of display cases. Iron emergency doors on the Drift side. Along the entire first storey a concrete edge, above the display cases on the right positioned lower.
In the facade on the Drift side various horizontal window rows executed in wood and steel. High hall, recessed rising from the building mass, with a sculptural facade element on the Voorstraat side with two flagpoles in it. Layout of the interior with foyer on the first and second floors on the Drift side, large cinema hall on the Voorstraat side. Layout somewhat altered.
