Inleiding
Ten oosten van het hoofdgebouw staat een langgerekt DIENSTGEBOUW met onder meer de keuken en (aan de oostelijke zijde) een door het gebouw voerende poort, die leidt naar het achterterrein. Het pand ontneemt het zicht vanaf de openbare weg op het achtererf van het voormalige klooster. Dit gebouw maakt deel uit van het oorspronkelijke bouwplan en is dus naar ontwerp van A. Slootmaekers tussen 1862-'65 gerealiseerd.
Omschrijving
Het gebouw heeft een langgerekte, rechthoekige plattegrond, telt twee bouwlagen en wordt door de poort gescheiden in twee delen. Het westelijke deel heeft een zadeldak met lei in Maasdekking en de handvorm bakstenen voorgevel heeft vijf vensterassen. Op de begane grond zijn gekoppelde rondbogige lancetvensters geplaatst, terwijl men op de etage getoogde, openslaande vierruits vensters aantreft. De centrale ingangsparij wordt door lisenen geflankeerd en ook hier treft men kleurig siermetselwerk aan. De gevel is voor een groot deel met wingerd begroeid. Aan de achterzijde zijn enkele kleine, eenlaags oorspronkelijke aanbouwen onder plat dak. In het interieur is veel van het oorspronkelijke karakter door moderniseringen verloren gegaan. Naast de keuken is een naar het achtererf leidende, getoogde bakstenen poort met houten zoldering. Ook deze poort behoort tot het oorspronkelijke bouwplan. Het ten westen gelegen deel van dit bedrijfsgebouw is sterk gemoderniseerd. Het heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en twee bouwlagen onder een licht geknikt zadeldak met kruispannen. De voorgevel telt drie vensterassen maar gaat deel schuil achter een eenlaags aanbouw uit omstreeks 1960. Op de etage zijn dezelfde getoogde vensters toegepast als op de etage van de keuken.
Waardering
Het object heeft algemeen belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke en typologische ontwikkeling. Het heeft een bijzonder belang voor de geschiedenis van de architectuur; is van belang wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek; en is van belang wegens de architectonische gaafheid van het ex- en interieur.

East of the main building stands an elongated SERVICE BUILDING with, among other features, the kitchen and (on the eastern side) a gateway passing through the building, which leads to the rear grounds. The building obscures the view from the public road of the rear courtyard of the former cloister. This building is part of the original building plan and was therefore realized according to the design of A. Slootmaekers between 1862-'65.
Description
The building has an elongated, rectangular floor plan, has two storeys and is divided by the gateway into two parts. The western part has a gabled roof with slate in Maas bonding and the hand-made brick front facade has five window axes. On the ground floor coupled round-arched lancet windows have been placed, while on the first floor one finds lintelled, casement four-pane windows. The central entrance section is flanked by pilasters and here too one finds coloured ornamental brickwork. The facade is largely overgrown with ivy. On the rear side are several small, one-storey original extensions under flat roof. In the interior much of the original character has been lost through modernizations. Beside the kitchen is a brick gateway with wooden ceiling leading to the rear courtyard. This gateway too is part of the original building plan. The part of this utility building located to the west is heavily modernized. It has a rectangular floor plan and two storeys under a slightly bent gabled roof with barrel tiles. The front facade has three window axes but is partly obscured by a one-storey extension from around 1960. On the first floor the same lintelled windows are used as on the first floor of the kitchen.
Valuation
The object is of general importance as a particular expression of a spiritual and typological development. It is of particular importance for the history of architecture; is of significance because of the particular use of materials and the ornamentation; and is of significance because of the architectural integrity of the exterior and interior.
