Inleiding
De OPHAALBRUG van het Amsterdamse type is in 1920 gebouwd en was de eerste elektrisch bediende brug in Sneek. De brug vormt een verbinding tussen de Koopmansgracht en de Harinxmakade en ligt in het verlengde van de Johan Willem Frisostraat. De landhoofden en bruglantaarns zijn origineel. Met uitzondering van het geasfalteerde brugdek is de brug ongewijzigd. Het brugwachtershuisje is in 1984 herbouwd en valt derhalve buiten de bescherming van rijkswege.
Omschrijving
Gietijzeren ophaalbrug bestaand uit geklonken open vakwerk met vrijstaande hamei en grote kwadranten voor de beweging. De hamei staat op een gemetselde pijler; gele baksteen met hardstenen afgeschuinde hoeken en rand; steen met jaartal '1920'. Het brugdek is op eenzelfde pijler opgelegd. De pijlers staan middels een vast brugdek in verbinding met de kade.
De landhoofden zijn opgemetseld in gele baksteen met hardstenen afgeschuinde hoeken met aan weerszijden een geprofileerde hardstenen opstand; hierop een in rode baksteen gemetselde pijler met een geprofileerde hardstenen afdeksteen waarop de lantaarns zijn geplaatst. De lantaarn maakt bovenaan een bocht met een cirkelsegment met daarin een S-vorm. Het ijzeren hek op de brug, landhoofden en pijlers is origineel. In het hek worden verticale stijlen ritmisch afgewisseld met cirkelsegmenten.

De Harinxmabrug te Sneek is van algemeen architectuurhistorisch en cultuurhistorisch belang:

The OPENING BRIDGE of the Amsterdam type was built in 1920 and was the first electrically operated bridge in Sneek. Description
Cast-iron opening bridge consisting of riveted open lattice work with freestanding hamei and large quadrants for the movement. The hamei stands on a mortared pier; yellow brick with hard stone chamfered corners and edge; stone with date '1920'. The bridge deck is laid on an identical pier. The piers are connected to the quay by means of a fixed bridge deck.
The abutments are mortared in yellow brick with hard stone chamfered corners with on both sides a moulded hard stone upstand; on this a pier mortared in red brick with a moulded hard stone coping stone on which the lanterns are placed. The lantern bends at the top with a circular segment containing an S-shape. The iron railing on the bridge, abutments and piers is original. In the railing, vertical stiles are rhythmically alternated with circular segments.
