Omschrijving
Onderstaande gebouwen behoren tot de R.K. Kerk St. Martinus (1869-1871), architect J.P.H.

Description
The buildings listed below belong to the R.K. Church St. Martinus (1869-1871), architect J.P.H. Cuypers; fittings by Atelier Cuypers-Stoltzenberg; and as it were enclose the choir of the church; sacristy and presbytery are connected by means of a connecting section. Given the relationship with the church, a dating around 1871 -possibly also somewhat later- is plausible. Buildings and interior of the sacristy were presumably also carried out under the architecture of P.J.H. Cuypers, respectively fitted out by atelier Cuypers-Stoltzenberg.
Sacristy: this consists of basement and principal storey and is covered by a hipped roof covered with slate, in which two roof dormers. The ashlar work is enlivened by decorative brickwork and the sandstone sills of the windows. Internally the building has neo-gothic interior components, such as oak cabinet walls with wall and free-standing cabinets, provided with letter panels and other decorative carving, including quatrefoil motif; painted friezes with ecclesiastical inscriptions and polychrome stained glass with representations of figures from Roman Catholic church life; a stylistically painted beam ceiling and brass chandeliers with glass bell lamps. The neo-gothic oak furnishings (chairs and table) come from the presbytery.
Connecting section: this consists of basement and principal storey, and is provided with pointed-arch windows and some decorative brickwork, as the sacristy.
Presbytery: this consists of basement, above which three storeys and attic and is covered by two hipped roofs set at right angles to each other, covered with slate. Arched T-windows, of which those of the storeys are equipped with sandstone sills below the window. In the gable field two arched windows, set in pointed arch and hoisting shutter with hoisting beam. Ornamental wall anchors, ornamental pinnacles and decorative brickwork. To the right side of the presbytery is the covered entrance of which the pointed-arch barrel vault is supported by small sandstone columns. In this space there is also an access to the basement, which is vaulted by trough vaults resting on hewn brick voussoirs and tie beams. On the remaining storeys some original interior components, such as cabinets and painted ceilings.
Stair tower: this is located behind the presbytery and is covered by a hipped roof covered with slate, rising high, with ornamental pinnacles. Original interior components are also present here, including a worked stair and carved consoles.
