Inleiding
De VOLIERE is in 1913 door de regenten van het Old Burger Weeshuis aan het Wilhelmina Park toegevoegd. De volière bevindt zich aan de noordkant van het trapeziumvormige terrein, ten zuiden van het pad parallel aan de Oude Dijk. Het kleine gebouw is uitgevoerd door de Sneker bouwkundige Folkert de Wolf, naar ontwerp van architect Geert Stapensea. Stapensea was binnen en buiten Sneek heel actief in de eerste decennia van de 20ste eeuw.
Omschrijving
De volière heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en wordt gedekt door een úitstekend rieten tentdak waarop een lantaarn met rieten dak en nok van rode, brede dakpannen. De lantaarn heeft aan iedere zijde een driedelig venster. Het bakstenen gebouw staat op een bakstenen basement. Aan de voorzijde is een glazen uitbouw aangebracht. In de voorgevel zitten een venster en een driedelige tuindeur.
Waardering
De volière uit 1913, horend bij het complex van het Wilhelmina Park te Sneek, is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang:

Introduction
The AVIARY was added to Wilhelmina Park in 1913 by the governors of the Old Burger Weeshuis. The aviary is located at the north side of the trapezoidal site, south of the path parallel to the Oude Dijk. The small building was executed by the Sneek architect Folkert de Wolf, after a design by architect Geert Stapensea. Stapensea was very active both within and outside Sneek in the first decades of the 20th century.
Description
The aviary has a rectangular floor plan and is covered by a projecting thatched tent roof with on top a lantern with thatched roof and ridge of red, broad roof tiles. The lantern has a three-part window on each side. The brick building stands on a brick basement. A glazed extension has been added to the front. The front facade has a window and a three-part garden door.
Valuation
The aviary from 1913, belonging to the Wilhelmina Park complex in Sneek, is of general cultural-historical significance:
