Omschrijving
Het KANTOOR uit 1938 is opgetrokken in de trant van de Engelse Landhuisstijl. Het omvat één bouwlaag met samengesteld dak en bestaat als het ware uit een vierkant bouwdeel onder een concaaf piramidedak. Aan de zuid-oostzijde van dit geheel is een rechthoekig lager blok onder een samengesteld dak ingeschoven, waar een langgerekt smal, iets lager bouwdeel, onder een zadeldak tegen aan is gebouwd.
Het gebouw is opgetrokken in donkerrode baksteen en is vanaf de onderdorpel van de kozijnen wit bepleisterd. Het dak wordt gedekt met een rood-oranje geglazuurde Romaanse pan. Centraal in de nok van het vierkante bouwdeel en op de kop van het langgerekte bouwdeel staat een gemetselde schoorsteen.
Voorzijde (zuid-west): in het vierkante deel een groot venster met vier bovenlichten; in het dakvlak een dakkapel met plat dak en twee vier-ruits vensters; in het rechthoekige deel, de houten, aan de bovenzijde halfronde, samengestelde voordeur met een getrapte gemetselde omlijsting; voor de deur een stenen stoep; rechts hiervan een twee-ruits venster, in het dakvlak een dakkapel.
Zuid-oostzijde: in de flank van het vierkante deel, naast de voordeur, een smal venster met daaronder in het metselwerk een gedenksteen met opschrift: 'Gedenksteen geplaatst door C.J. de JONG en SOPHIE de JONG, LYCKLAMA a NIJENHOLT op Maria Lichtmis 1938'; twee vensters in het rechthoekige deel; het langgerekte deel blind en verbonden met de muur tussen villa en kantoor; in deze muur twee poorten.
Noord-westzijde: een venster met drie bovenlichten; in het dakvlak een dakkapel.
Achterzijde (noord-oost): in het vierkante deel twee vensters met verticale roede met ieder twee bovenlichten; in het rechthoekige deel, twee identieke vensters; in het langwerpige deel drie maal deze zelfde vensters.
Alle vensters hebben een keramische lekdorpel en een halfsteens rollaag.
Het INTERIEUR bevat o.a.: de hal, zwart-geel betegeld met granieten vloer; hoofdvertrek in het vierkante deel, kinderbinten met zware moerbalken rustend op forse sleutelstukken met peerkraal, houten lambrizering, gemetselde schouw met Delftsblauw tegeltableau met als voorstelling een zeilschip, zware paneeldeuren, in de kozijnen een zware tandlijst met architraaf; de vloeren zijn van hout en alle deuren en kozijnen zijn origineel.
Waardering
Het kantoor behorende bij Doniastate is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch belang:

Description
The OFFICE from 1938 is constructed in the style of English Country House architecture. It comprises one storey with a composite roof and consists, as it were, of a square building section under a concave pyramidal roof. On the south-east side of this whole, a rectangular lower block under a composite roof has been inserted, to which a long narrow, slightly lower building section under a gabled roof has been built against.
The building is constructed in dark red brickwork and is white-plastered from the bottom edge of the window frames upwards. The roof is covered with a red-orange glazed Roman tile. Centrally on the ridge of the square building section and on the gable of the long building section stands a brick chimney.
Front facade (south-west): in the square section a large window with four fanlights; in the roof plane a dormer with flat roof and two four-pane windows; in the rectangular section, the wooden, at the top semi-circular, composite front door with a stepped brick surround; in front of the door a stone step; to the right of this a two-pane window, in the roof plane a dormer.
South-east side: in the flank of the square section, next to the front door, a narrow window with below it in the brickwork a commemorative stone with inscription: 'Commemorative stone placed by C.J. de JONG and SOPHIE de JONG, LYCKLAMA a NIJENHOLT on Maria Candlemas 1938'; two windows in the rectangular section; the long section blank and connected with the wall between villa and office; two doors in this wall.
North-west side: a window with three fanlights; in the roof plane a dormer.
Rear facade (north-east): in the square section two windows with vertical glazing bars each with two fanlights; in the rectangular section, two identical windows; in the long section three of the same windows.
All windows have a ceramic drip moulding and a half-brick roll course.
The INTERIOR contains amongst others: the hall, black and yellow tiled with granite floor; main room in the square section, decorative timberwork with heavy tie beams resting on robust keystones with pear bead moulding, wooden wainscoting, brick fireplace with Delftware tile tableau depicting a sailing ship, heavy panel doors, in the window frames a heavy dentil moulding with architrave; the floors are of wood and all doors and window frames are original.
Valuation
The office belonging to Doniastate is of general cultural-historical and architectural-historical importance:
- as an essential component of a larger whole that is of general cultural-historical and architectural-historical importance;
- because of the integrity of both the exterior and the interior;
- in relation to the visual integrity of the landscape setting.
