BRUG MET HAMEI. De toegang tot het eiland waarop zich het hoofdgebouw bevindt, bestaat vanouds uit een 14 meter lange houten brug. Op oudere afbeeldingen waaronder die van Stellingwerf is deze steeds te zien, zij het dat het hek soberder van uitvoering was. De brug en de in neonmiddeleeuwse stijl uitgevoerde hamei dateren uit 1905. Het geheel bestaat uit twee hoge pijlers bekroond met wapendragende leeuwen en daartussen een getoogde poort. De latei boven de poort is voorzien van snijwerk met spreuken en schilden. Een lessenaardakje aan weerszijden biedt beschutting. De poort wordt geflankeerd door twee zijvleugels. Het geheel is voorzien van siersmeedwerk.

Description
BRIDGE WITH GATEHOUSE. Access to the island on which the main building is located has always consisted of a 14-metre-long wooden bridge. In older images, including those by Stellingwerf, it is always visible, albeit with a simpler execution of the gate. The bridge and the gatehouse executed in neo-medieval style date from 1905. The whole consists of two high pillars crowned with heraldic lions and between them an arched gateway. The lintel above the gate is provided with carved work with mottos and shields. A lean-to roof on either side offers shelter. The gateway is flanked by two side wings. The whole is provided with decorative ironwork.
