Inleiding:
Particulier PARK 'Schoonoord' in oorsprong rond 1860 in een gemengde tuinstijl ontworpen door J.D. Zocher als tuin bij het gelijknamige landgoed 'Schoonoord' aan de westzijde van de Muizenpolder, een buitendijks buitenplaatsengebied langs de Westzeedijk.
'Schoonoord' was oorspronkelijk aangelegd als een kleine buitenplaats met een parkgedeelte met vijvers, een hoenderhof, kassen, een orangerie, een moestuin, een boomgaard en een tuinmanswoning. Het uit twee vroegere tuinen bestaande rechthoekige perceel van het park wordt door een brede gracht omzoomd en gescheiden van de huidige villa (Parklaan 17).
