Inleiding
DOKTERSWONING gebouwd in 1923 in opdracht van pastoor Spiertz van de naastgelegen R.K. kerk O.L.V. Onbevlekt Ontvangen. Gebouwd in traditionalistische stijl naar ontwerp van arch. J.H.H. van Groenendael uit Maastricht. De aanbouw uit 1950 die voor de oorspronkelijke entree werd gerealiseerd is op grond van de ouderdom vooralsnog uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving
Voormalige dokterswoning met rechthoekig grondplan in twee bouwlagen onder gebroken tentdak met Tuiles de Nord, dakkapellen en rechthoekige schoorstenen. Gevels met baksteen metselwerk in kruisverband. Natuursteen plint, speklagen met pleisterwerk. In gevels rechthoekige houten vensters met roedeverdeling. Natuursteen dorpels, in eerste laag met strek en natuursteen aanzetstenen. Onder de dakrand een decoratieve natuursteen lijst en goot op klossen. Voorgevel met centraal twee traveeën met dubbele vensters. Onder de dakrand een hardsteen band met jaartal 1923. Op dak een schoorsteen. Rechts in rechter zijgevel een vijfkantige erker met balustrade met accenten in hardsteen en mergel. Boven erker dubbele balkondeuren met aan weerszijden vensters. Links van erker trap met toegang naar souterrain. Deur en keldervensters. In eerste en tweede laag drie vensters. Op het dak twee dakkapellen met drie vensters. Rechts in achtergevel een vijfhoekige erker met plat dak en vensters in elke zijde. Boven erker in tweede laag twee vensters en op dak een dakkapel met twee vensters en centraal een schoorsteen. Links naast erker twee bordesdeuren. In linker zijgevel, op plaats van vroegere voordeur en bordes, in 1950 een aanbouw met entree gebouwd. Aanbouw in een laag, plat dak en plint in natuursteen, drie vensters. Rechts naast entree een venster, boven entree twee glas-in-lood vensters ter plaatse van trappenhuis. Rechts drie vensters in tweede laag. Geheel links in gevel garage-ingang in souterrain. Centraal op dak dakkapel met vijf vensters. Toegang met twee baksteen kolommen met natuursteen plint. Van het INTERIEUR is onder meer van belang. Hoofdstructuur van indeling is in tact hetgeen blijkt uit de situering van de hal, trappenhuis en kamers. Authentieke houten deuromlijstingen. Voormalige spreekkamer met eenvoudige marmer haardomlijsting. Houten trap en lambrisering. Houten schuifdeuren tussen woonkamer en kamer met serre.
Waardering
De voormalige dokterswoning is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal economische en typologische ontwikkeling.
De dokterswoning bezit architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege het bijzonder belang voor de geschiedenis van de architectuur, als voorbeeld van het oeuvre van architect J.H.H. van Groenendael, wegens de hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp, het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek. Former doctor's house with rectangular floor plan in two storeys under a broken mansard roof with Tuiles de Nord, roof dormers and rectangular chimneys. Facades with brickwork in Flemish bond. Natural stone plinth, stone courses with plasterwork. In facades rectangular wooden windows with glazing bars. Natural stone sills, on the first storey with stretcher and natural stone springing stones. Below the roof edge a decorative natural stone moulding and gutter on corbels. Front facade with centrally two bays with double windows. Below the roof edge a hard stone band with the date 1623. On roof a chimney. On the right in the right side facade a pentagonal bay with balustrade with accents in hard stone and marl. Above the bay double doors to the balcony with windows on either side. To the left of the bay stairs with access to the basement. Door and cellar windows. On the first and second storeys three windows. On the roof two roof dormers with three windows. On the right in the rear facade a pentagonal bay with flat roof and windows on each side. Above the bay on the second storey two windows and on the roof a roof dormer with two windows and centrally a chimney. To the left next to the bay two flights of steps to doors. In the left side facade, at the place of the former front door and steps, in 1950 an extension with entrance was built. Extension in one storey, flat roof and plinth in natural stone, three windows. To the right next to the entrance a window, above the entrance two stained glass windows at the place of the stairwell. On the right three windows on the second storey. On the far left in the facade a garage entrance in the basement. Centrally on roof a roof dormer with five windows. Access with two brick columns with natural stone plinth. Of the INTERIOR the following is of significance. The main structure of the layout is intact as evidenced by the positioning of the hall, stairwell and rooms. Authentic wooden door frames. Former consulting room with simple marble fireplace surround. Wooden staircase and wooden panelling. Wooden sash doors between the living room and room with conservatory.
