Inleiding
In een traditionele stijl in 1922 naar een ontwerp van architect A. Bartels uit Heerlen gebouwde BEAMBTENWONING.
Het gehele complex waarvan deze beambtenwoning deel uitmaakt werd gebouwd in opdracht van de mijn Laura en Vereeniging en was bestemd voor mijnopzichters en een hoofdopzichter. De aanbouw aan de achtergevel is uitgesloten van bescherming.
Het totale complex bestaat uit een straatwand met links op de hoek een winkelwoning, vervolgens zes aaneengesloten aangebouwde beambtenwoningen, waarvan dit woonhuis deel uitmaakt, en rechts op de hoek een beambtenwoning die in 1925 werd gerealiseerd.
Omschrijving
De beambtenwoning telt twee bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt met een zadeldak met pannen. Voorgevel iets vooruitspringend en uitlopend in een topgevel. Zadeldak haaks op dakdeel overige straatwand.
Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is Kunradersteen, hardsteen en baksteen. Rechthoekige houten vensters met hardstenen dorpelstenen en kunststenen lateien. Rechthoekige houten deur met bovenlicht.
Entree in linkerdeel voorgevel met kunststeen omlijsting. In topgevel voorgevel drie smalle houten vensters met aan benedenzijde doorlopende horizontale band met cementering en aan bovenzijde een doorlopende kunststeen latei. In topgevel voorgevel een cementering met hierin een ronde bakstenen decoratie. Schouderstukken topgevel met cementering.
Achtergevel iets vooruitspringend en uitlopend in een topgevel met afgeknot zadeldak. In de topgevel drie smalle rechthoekige houten vensters met doorlopende kunststenen latei. Topgevel voorzien van een cementering.
In het linkerdeel van de achtergevel rechthoekige houten dubbele tuindeuren met in beide deuren drie glaspanelen. Rechthoekig houten bovenlicht met drieruits roedeverdeling. Hoge zijlichten met hardstenen dorpelstenen. Deur met hardstenen dorpelsteen. Het geheel is voorzien van een kunststenen latei. In het rechterdeel achtergevel in de eerste bouwlaag een klein rechthoekig houten venster met kunststenen latei.
Interieur aangepast en niet beschermenswaardig.
Waardering
Deze beambtenwoning aan de Sint Jansstraat is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling en is van belang voor de geschiedenis van de huisvesting in de mijnstreek. De beambtenwoning bezit architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege het bijzonder belang van het complex waar dit pand deel van uitmaakt voor de geschiedenis van de bovenregionale architectuur, als voorbeeld van het oeuvre van architect Anton Bartels, wegens het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek.
Ensemblewaarde ontleent deze beambtenwoning aan de betekenis als essentieel onderdeel van een straatwand die cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch van belang is en ook stedenbouwkundig van waarde is vanwege de situering nabij de R.K. kerk. Description
The official's residence comprises two storeys and is covered with a gabled roof with tiles. Front facade slightly projecting and culminating in a stepped gable. Gabled roof at right angles to the roof section of the rest of the street frontage.
The building material used is Kunrader stone, hard stone and brick. Rectangular wooden windows with hard stone sills and artificial stone lintels. Rectangular wooden door with fanlight.
Entrance in the left part of the front facade with artificial stone surround. In the stepped gable of the front facade three narrow wooden windows with at the bottom a continuous horizontal band with cementing and at the top a continuous artificial stone lintel. In the stepped gable of the front facade a cementing with therein a round brick decoration. Shoulder pieces of stepped gable with cementing.
Rear facade slightly projecting and culminating in a stepped gable with truncated gabled roof. In the stepped gable three narrow rectangular wooden windows with continuous artificial stone lintels. Stepped gable provided with cementing.
In the left part of the rear facade rectangular wooden double garden doors with in both doors three glass panes. Rectangular wooden fanlight with three-light glazing bars. High side lights with hard stone sills. Door with hard stone sill. The whole is provided with an artificial stone lintel. In the right part of the rear facade on the first storey a small rectangular wooden window with artificial stone lintel.
Interior adapted and not worthy of protection.
