Inleiding
LANDHUIS "Treeswyk" uit 1828-29 in neo-classicistische stijl opgetrokken met verbouwing van rond 1900.
Het huis is oorspronkelijk gebouwd voor Mr. A.A. van Velthoven president van de Eindhovense rechtbank.
Het huis ligt op het landgoed Treeswijk met erachter een park in de Engelse landschapsstijl uit het einde van de 19de eeuw. Dit park behoort tot de bescherming.
De voor- of oostgevel van het landhuis staat naar de Valkenswaardseweg gekeerd. Noordelijk van het huis liggen enkele dienstgebouwen. Hiervan worden ook de huizen Valkenswaardseweg 16-18 beschermd.
Omschrijving
Het blokvormige huis heeft twee bouwlagen onder afgeplat schilddak met overstek. De bouwlagen bestaan uit een bel étage met eronder een souterrain. Aan de noord- en zuidkant is het huis met een en twee bouwlagen onder plat dak uitgebreid.
De voorgevel van het hoofdgebouw bestaat uit vier traveeën. Zij bevat een kroonlijst met Dorisch fries voorzien van triglyfen, metopen en guttae. Boven de middelste twee traveeën, die risalerend zijn, bevindt zich een tympaan, waarin vensters zijn opgenomen, geflankeerd door een oeil-de-boeuf.
In de voorgevel zijn de risaliet en het souterrain voorzien van blokpleisterwerk, de rest is vlak gepleisterd.
De vensters van de belétage zijn voorzien van aediculae. Hiernaast bevinden zich aan weerskanten in een rondboognis beelden uit de Romeinse mythologie, voorstellende Ceres en Proserpina. Het interieur bevat stijlkamers uit de bouwtijd. Onder andere een Chinese kamer.
In het park staan diverse bomen uit de bouwtijd. Aan de straat is een erfscheiding met beukenhaag met twee gemetselde hekpijlers met leeuwen en de naam van het landhuis erop.
Waardering
Het landhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele en sociaaleconomische ontwikkeling, met name de stichting van buitenplaatsen aan de uitvalswegen van de industriesteden. Het complex heeft architectuurhistorische waarden vanwege de verfijnde en late neo-classicistische detaillering van het landhuis, die ten opzichte van de oorspronkelijke opzet een kenmerkende verrijking betekende. Het heeft ensemblewaarden wegens de samenhang van de bebouwing met de inrichting van de landschappelijke tuin. Het is van belang wegens de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur.

COUNTRY HOUSE "Treeswyk" built in 1828-29 in neo-classical style with alterations from around 1900.

Description
