Inleiding
De betonnen VERKEERSBRUG aan de Brouwersdyk te Workum, ligt aan de noordkant van de stad en verbindt deze weg met de verder naar het noorden lopende Breewarsdyk. Brug en weg zijn tegelijkertijd, in 1926, gerealiseerd, in opdracht van de toenmalige gemeente Workum, volgens de Gewapend-beton Voorschriften 1918 van het Koninklijk Instituut van Ingenieurs. Ontwerper van de brug, die een haast Art Deco-achtig karakter draagt, was de gemeente-architect, J. Wiersma. De brug ligt over de IJske Boerevaart, die in noordelijke richting stroomt en bij Ferwoude de Kleine Vaart kruist om vervolgens op te gaan in de oost-west gelegen Diepert.
Omschrijving
De brug bestaat uit een vrij lange betonnen monoliet en vier landhoofden. De borstweringen zijn als het ware opgebouwd uit gepotdekselde delen van grindbeton. De landhoofden bestaan ieder uit een vijfdelige getrapte borstwering; de damwand is geconstrueerd van glad gewapend beton.

Introduction
The concrete TRAFFIC BRIDGE on the Brouwersdyk at Workum lies on the north side of the town and connects this road with the Breewarsdyk running further north. Bridge and road were realised simultaneously, in 1926, on the instructions of the then municipality of Workum, according to the Reinforced Concrete Regulations 1918 of the Royal Institute of Engineers. The designer of the bridge, which bears an almost Art Deco character, was the municipal architect, J. Wiersma. The bridge spans the IJske Boerevaart, which flows in a northerly direction and at Ferwoude crosses the Kleine Vaart before continuing into the east-west oriented Diepert.
Description
