Inleiding
(Voormalig) KOETSHUIS in chaletstijl uit circa 1900, behorend bij de neo-classicistische villa Staten Bolwerk 1 (monnr. 19784), gesitueerd in het landschapspark, dat naar ontwerp van J.D. Zocher jr. is aangelegd op de oude bolwerken aan de noordzijde van het station. De villa met koetshuis ligt binnen het van rijkswege beschermde stadsgezicht Haarlem.
N.B. Het na 1945 gebouwde halfronde tussenlid dat beide onderdelen met elkaar verbindt, is voor de bescherming van ondergeschikt belang.
Omschrijving
Het koetshuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt twee bouwlagen en een zolderverdieping onder een met geglazuurde kruispannen gedekt zadeldak. Het dak is aan de voorgevel voorzien van een sierspant met rondboog en decoratief snijwerk. De lage uitbouw aan de zuidgevel wordt gedekt door een afgeknot schilddak met kruispannen. De overstekende daken rusten op geprofileerde consoles en onder het overstek bevindt zich een fries met vakwerk dat in geprofileerd hout is uitgevoerd. De gevels zijn deels gepleisterd met schijnvoeg en deels gesausd. In de voorgevel op de begane grond rechts een houten deur onder bovenlicht en links twee T-schuifvensters. Op de verdieping drie T-schuifvensters en in de geveltop twee rondboogvensters.
De achtergevel bevat beganegronds links een driedelig venster en rechts een venster met bovenlicht. Op de verdieping drie stolpramen met tweeruits bovenlichten en in de geveltop eveneens een stolpraam. In de lage aanbouw twee drieledige vensters en voor het overige smalle rechthoekige vensters.
Waardering
Het (voormalige) koetshuis, behorend bij de villa Staten Bolwerk 1 (monnr. 19784) is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als representatief voorbeeld van een koetshuis in chaletstijl uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw. Het pand heeft situationele waarde vanwege de beeldbepalende ligging in het Engelse landschapspark van J.D. Zocher jr. op de oude bolwerken van Haarlem.

Description
The carriage house has a rectangular floor plan and comprises two storeys and an attic storey under a gabled roof covered with glazed cross tiles. The overhanging roofs rest on profiled corbels and beneath the overhang is a frieze with half-timbering executed in profiled wood.
