Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
VILLA built in the northwestern corner and as part of Kenaupark, built in 1880-1881 by Johannes Hartveldt, carpenter in eclectic style. Kenaupark came into being from 1865 as Haarlem's villa park in landscape style according to the urban design of J.D. Zocher jr. The property belongs to the building wave that between 1867 and 1880 resulted in the realisation of twelve detached villas, four double villas and two adjoining building blocks containing respectively nine and four townhouses. The villa was subsequently extended on the south side with a conservatory. The property nowadays (1993) has an office function.
N.B. The conservatory falls outside the protection
Description
The villa has an irregular ground plan and consists of basement, bel étage, first storey and attic storey. The roof consists of a flattened hipped roof with black Dutch tile. Despite the irregular ground plan, the property has a blocky main form of which the front facade (W) and rear facade (E) contain five window bays. In the front facade the window bays are contained within bays. The three southern bays form a triangular projection over the full facade height.
The property is constructed in red brick within a structure formed by a stone plinth, plastered pilasters which at the height of the window sills are articulated by plastered drip mouldings. The property has a continuous main cornice of which the frieze is plastered. In the centre above the arched window openings there is plastered decoration. The arched windows are all provided with sash windows which on the first storey have four-pane glazing bars. The panelled door of the main entrance is located in a porch beside the triangular projection. Above this projection, of which the form is not continued in the roof, is a rectangular roof dormer with double hinged doors.
Valuation
The villa, which has been preserved largely intact in its main form and detailing, is of general significance from a cultural-historical and architectural-historical perspective as well as because of its ensemble value as part of the villa development that between 1867 and 1880 came into being in relation to the landscape arrangement of Kenaupark.
