Inleiding
Ten zuidoosten van het manege-en stallengebouw van de Ripperdakazerne gelegen voormalige tweede overdekte RIJBAAN met tribune, gebouwd in 1907 ter vervanging van een open rijbaan. De bouw stond onder leiding van de genie-officieren W.G.L. Versteeg en A.M. de Blauw en is uitgevoerd in overgangsarchitectuur.
NB De na 1960 gerealiseerde éénlaags uitbouw aan de voorzijde valt buiten de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Op rechthoekig grondplan gebouwd overdekte rijbaan bestaande uit één bouwlaag onder zadeldak. Aan de voorzijde heeft het object een lagere uitgebouwde partij - de oorspronkelijke tribune - die bestaat uit twee vooruitspringende volumes onder zadeldak en een verbindend dwarsvolume onder flauw hellend lessenaarsdak, voorzien van brede getoogde bovenlichten. Alle licht overstekende daken zijn bedekt met zwarte kruispannen. In de beide vooruitspringende volumes bevinden zich de oorspronkelijke toegangen naar de tribune (Z) en naar de rijbaan (N), respectievelijk in een hardstenen plaat aangegeven met TRIBUNE en RIJBAAN.
Het muurwerk is gemetseld in rode baksteen die in de ontlastingsbogen en in de onderdorpels respectievelijk met zandsteen en hardsteen wordt afgewisseld. Het muurwerk van de beide zijgevels (Z en N) is door middel van muurdammen geleed in negen spaarvelden. In elk spaarveld bevindt zich een meerdelig kozijn met meerruits ramen. Net als de ten dele getoogde vensterpartijen in de voor- en achtergevel zijn de vensters alle van hout en nog merendeels voorzien van de oorspronkelijke meerruits roedenverdeling. De achtergevel heeft aan weerszijden van een (dichtgemetselde) ingang twee vensters, overeenkomstig de vensters in de zijgevel maar van een groter formaat.
Waardering
De voormalige tweede overdekte rijbaan uit 1907 behorende bij de Ripperdakazerne is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische en architectuurhistorische betekenis en vanwege de ensemblewaarde als overwegend gaaf bewaard historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het voormalige kazernecomplex.

Located to the south-east of the riding school and stables building of the Ripperdakazerne, former second covered RIDING TRACK with gallery, built in 1907 to replace an open riding track. The construction was under the direction of the engineer officers W.G.L. Versteeg and A.M. de Blauw and is executed in transitional architecture.
NB The single-storey extension at the front realized after 1960 falls outside the protection.
Description
Built on a rectangular ground plan, covered riding track consisting of one storey under a gabled roof. At the front the object has a lower built-out section - the original gallery - which consists of two projecting volumes under a gabled roof and a connecting cross volume under a shallow sloping catslide roof, provided with broad arched fanlights. All slightly overhanging roofs are covered with black roof tiles. In both projecting volumes are the original entrances to the gallery (S) and to the riding track (N), respectively indicated in a hardstone plaque with TRIBUNE and RIJBAAN.
The masonry is laid in red brick which in the relieving arches and in the undersills respectively is alternated with sandstone and hardstone. The masonry of both side facades (S and N) is by means of masonry piers articulated into nine spared areas. In each spared area is a multi-part window frame with multi-pane frames. Just as the partly arched window sections in the front and rear facades, the windows are all of wood and still mostly provided with the original multi-pane glazing bars. The rear facade has on either side of a (blocked) entrance two windows, corresponding to the windows in the side facade but of a larger size.
Valuation
The former second covered riding track from 1907 belonging to the Ripperdakazerne is of general interest by reason of the cultural-historical and architectural-historical significance and by reason of the ensemble value as a predominantly well-preserved historical-functional component of the former barracks complex.
