In overgangsarchitectuur uitgevoerd bouwblok met tien BEWAARDERSWONINGEN ter hoogte van twee bouwlagen met overstekende langskap. De kap heeft een geprofileerde houten gootlijst en is gedekt met zwarte Hollandse pan. Het muurwerk is opgetrokken in rode baksteen waarop zich ter hoogte van de verdiepingsvloeren eenvoudige muurankers bevinden. Horizontale banden in rode verblendsteen verbinden de hardstenen onderdorpels van parterre en verdieping en de eveneens in verblendsteen uitgevoerde ontlastingsbogen op de parterre. De woningen zijn steeds gespiegeld ten opzichte van elkaar geplaatst waardoor de voordeuren gekoppeld zijn. Elke woning bevat twee vensterassen die op de parterre bestaan uit een smalle voordeur en een groot venster. Op de verdieping bevindt zich boven de voordeur een smal vierruits venster met drieruits bovenlicht en boven het grote venster een dubbel vierruits venster met dubbel drieruits bovenlicht. Deze bovenlichten vallen ten dele onder de overstekende kap. Het grote venster was oorspronkelijk zesruits, maar is thans vervangen door een tweeruits exemplaar in aluminium. De voordeuren zijn net als de vensters op de parterre oorspronkelijk en bestaan uit verticale delen met zware smeedijzeren scharnieren.
Waardering
Het uit 1899-1901 daterende blok van tien bewaarderswoningen is van algemeen belang uit cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch oogpunt als oorspronkelijk onderdeel van het Haarlemse gevangeniscomplex.

Description
A building block executed in transitional architecture with ten WARDERS' DWELLINGS at a height of two storeys with overhanging long roof. The roof has a profiled wooden drip moulding and is covered with black Dutch tile. The brickwork is erected in red brick on which, at the height of the storey floors, simple wall anchors are situated. Horizontal bands in red facing brick connect the hardstone sills of the ground floor and upper floor and the relieving arches likewise executed in facing brick on the ground floor. The dwellings are always placed mirrored in relation to each other whereby the front doors are paired. Each dwelling contains two window axes which on the ground floor consist of a narrow front door and a large window. On the upper floor above the front door is a narrow four-pane window with three-pane fanlight and above the large window a double four-pane window with double three-pane fanlight. These fanlights partly fall under the overhanging roof. The large window was originally six-pane, but is now replaced by a two-pane example in aluminium. The front doors are, like the windows on the ground floor, original and consist of vertical parts with heavy wrought-iron hinges.
Valuation
The block of ten warders' dwellings dating from 1899-1901 is of general importance from a cultural-historical and architectural-historical point of view as an original component of the Haarlem prison complex.
