Inleiding
GRAFMONUMENT, opgericht tot nagedachtenis van G.C. Fabius in neoclassicistische stijl uit 1887, behorende tot het complex "Algemene Begraafplaats Amersfoortsestraatweg" te Bussum. G.C. Fabius was burgemeester van Naarden en Muiden.
Omschrijving
Het grafmonument meet 216x114x254cm en is opgebouwd uit een rechthoekig vak -afgezet met rechte hardstenen banden met op de hoekpunten hardstenen neuten waarop de stijlen van het ijzeren grafhek staan-, een kleine, dunne, iets hellend geplaatste hardstenen steen met getoogde bovenzijde en in verheven Latijns kapitaal de tekst: "HIER RUST/GERI/6 DEC. 1885-27 JUNI 1887/A.P. FABIUS-BEUDEKER/9 FEBR. 1827-31 JAN 1905", en een afgebroken zuil op een vierkante, rijk geprofileerde sokkel. Op de sokkel is aan de voorzijde een witmarmeren plaat bevestigd waarop een tekst is aangebracht in zwart gelakt verdiept Latijns kapitaal: "TER NAGEDACHTENIS/VAN/G.C. FABIUS/GEB: 15 FEBRUARI 1815/BURGEMEESTER VAN NAARDEN EN MUIDEN/1 JAN: 1865-29 APRIL 1887/DE BURGERIJ". Het grafhek, 97 cm. hoog, bevat vier rondijzeren hoekstijlen, bekroond met granaatappels. Smeedijzeren liggers en diagonalen verbinden de hoekstijlen. Op de kruising van de diagonalen is een gietijzeren rozet aangebracht.

The grave monument measures 216x114x254cm and is constructed from a rectangular bed - bordered with straight limestone bands with at the corners limestone finials upon which the posts of the iron grave fence stand -, a small, thin, slightly inclined limestone stone with moulded top and in raised Latin capital the text: "HERE RESTS/GERI/6 DEC. 1885-27 JUNE 1887/A.P. FABIUS-BEUDEKER/9 FEBR. 1827-31 JAN 1905", and a broken column on a square, richly profiled base. On the base is affixed on the front a white marble plaque upon which a text is inscribed in black lacquered recessed Latin capital: "IN MEMORY/OF/G.C. FABIUS/BORN: 15 FEBRUARY 1815/BURGOMASTER OF NAARDEN AND MUIDEN/1 JAN: 1865-29 APRIL 1887/THE CITIZENS". The grave fence, 97 cm. high, contains four round iron corner posts, crowned with pomegranates. Wrought iron tie beams and diagonals connect the corner posts. At the intersection of the diagonals is an ornamental cast iron rosette affixed.
