Inleiding
De ORIËNTEERTAFEL te Ootmarsum is in 1922 geplaatst op de Kuiperberg aan de zuidzijde van de Almelosestraat binnen de bebouwde kom van Ootmarsum.
In de jaren twintig en dertig zijn in opdracht van de Algemene Nederlandse Wielrijders Bond (ANWB) en de Koninklijke Nederlandse Toeristenbond (KNTB) verschillende oriënteertafels geplaatst op uitzichtspunten langs de routes Amsterdam - Arnhem en Amsterdam - Maastricht. Dit exemplaar is een vroeg voorbeeld van een dergelijke oriënteertafel.
Omschrijving
De oriënteertafel bestaat uit een hardstenen vierkante plaat, met gravures in basreliëf van silhouetten en gegevens van gebouwen die aan de horizon zichtbaar zijn. De vierkante plaat bevindt zich op een hardstenen sokkel met inscriptie "herinnering bondsfeesten in Twenthe 22-23 juli 1922". De oriënteertafel bevindt zich op een vierkanten bakstenen basement met betonnen afdekrand en tegels van grindbeton. In de zijkanten is "ANWB" uitgemetseld. Het basement is via vier treden te beklimmen. Op het basement staan twee hardstenen zitbanken.

Introduction
The ORIENTATION TABLE at Ootmarsum was placed in 1922 on the Kuiperberg on the south side of the Almelosestraat within the built-up area of Ootmarsum.
In the nineteen twenties and thirties various orientation tables were placed on viewpoints along the routes Amsterdam - Arnhem and Amsterdam - Maastricht on commission of the General Dutch Cyclists' Union (ANWB) and the Royal Dutch Tourist Association (KNTB). This specimen is an early example of such an orientation table.
Description
The orientation table consists of a hardstone square plate, with engravings in bas-relief of silhouettes and details of buildings that are visible on the horizon. The square plate is located on a hardstone pedestal with the inscription "remembrance of union festivals in Twente 22-23 July 1922". The orientation table is situated on a square brick basement with concrete coping and tiles of concrete aggregate. "ANWB" is set out in the sides. The basement can be climbed via four steps. On the basement stand two hardstone seat benches.

The ORIENTATION TABLE is of cultural-historical and urban planning importance:
