Inleiding
ZITBANK gesitueerd in het Stadspark "Engels Tuin", aangelegd in opdracht van A.A.W. Aberson. Het park is aangelegd op driehoekige grondslag in Engelse stijl net buiten het historisch centrum van Ootmarsum.
Rond de bank is een keistenen plaveisel gelegd binnen een kader van zandstenen blokken. De aanleg van het park is van geringe waarde omdat van de oorspronkelijke opzet nog maar een zeer gering deel aanwezig is.
Omschrijving
Zitbank van Bentheimer zandsteen. De bankvorm heeft de kromming van een cirkelsegment van circa 45º graden. De vierkante hoekpijlers hebben een basement en een afdekplaat met daarop vierkante acantusbloem en druiven. Aan de voorzijde van de pijlers zijn twee zijleuningen aangebracht die naar het middelpunt van het cirkelsegment wijzen. Op het golvende vlak van deze leuningen zijn blad en vruchtmotieven aangebracht. De leuningen hebben een dekplaat met daarop een acantusvoluut. Tussen de twee hoekpijlers zijn vijf onversierde segmenten aangebracht. Ze bestaan uit een rugdeel met een afdekplaat, een zitting en een stootbord.

ZITBANK van algemeen cultuurhistorisch, architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig belang:
- als onderdeel van de stoffering van het stadspark

SEAT BENCH situated in the City Park "Engels Tuin", laid out on commission of A.A.W. Aberson. The park is laid out on a triangular base in English style just outside the historic centre of Ootmarsum.
Around the bench a stone paving has been laid within a frame of sandstone blocks. The laying out of the park is of minor value because only a very small part of the original design is still present.
Description
Seat bench of Bentheim sandstone. The bench shape has the curvature of a circular segment of approximately 45 degrees. The square corner pillars have a basement and a coping plate with on it square acanthus flower and grapes. On the front of the pillars two side railings are mounted which point towards the midpoint of the circular segment. On the wavy surface of these railings leaf and fruit motifs are placed. The railings have a coping plate with an acanthus volute. Between the two corner pillars five undecorated segments are mounted. They consist of a back part with a coping plate, a seat and a back panel.
