Inleiding
INCOMPLETE MOLEN.
De als stellingmolen uitgevoerde ronde stenen bovenkruier is in 1710 gebouwd en was ingericht als poldermolen voor de bemaling van de Klein-Babberspolder. De molen heeft op dezelfde standplaats een voorganger gekend. De molen was aanvankelijk een grondzeiler, maar is in 1888 verhoogd tot stellingmolen vanwege windbelemmering door de aanleg van een spoorlijn. De molen is omstreeks 1925 onttakeld, waarbij het gevlucht, de kap, de stelling en het gaande werk werden verwijderd. De molen werd ingericht als gemaal en was als zodanig tot omstreeks 1985 in gebruik. De incomplete molen heeft thans geen functie. Nabij de incomplete molen staat een woning. De incomplete molen ligt aan de Poldervaart, tot het einde van de 20ste eeuw de boezem van Delfland. De incomplete molen is goed zichtbaar in een open omgeving met in de directe omgeving wat opschietend geboomte.
Omschrijving
Het staande werk van de incomplete molen bestaat uit de ronde conisch gemetselde bakstenen romp, waarvan het bovenste deel een cilinderachtige vorm heeft. De incomplete molen is bepleisterd en voorzien van een overstekend plat dak. De gemetselde waterlopen zijn nog grotendeels aanwezig.
Waardering
De incomplete molen is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege bouwtechnisch historische waarden als herkenbaar en representatief relictvan een ronde stenen poldermolen uit het begin van de 18e eeuw die in de eerste helft van de 20e eeuw werd omgebouwd tot gemaal;
- vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als essentieel onderdeel van de ontginnings- en waterstaatkundige geschiedenis van Zuid-Holland en de plaatselijke geschiedenis;
- vanwege situationele waarden betreffende de belendende waterlopen en de historische gaafheid van de omgeving;
- vanwege zijn zeldzaamheid als een ronde stenen poldermolen van hoge ouderdom die in het eind van de 19e eeuw tot stellingmolen is verhoogd.

INCOMPLETE MILL.
The round stone upper windmill, executed as a timber-framed mill, was built in 1710 and was equipped as a polder mill for the drainage of the Klein-Babberspolder. The mill had a predecessor on the same site. The mill was originally a ground-sailing mill, but in 1888 was raised to a timber-framed mill due to wind obstruction from the construction of a railway line. The mill was dismantled around 1925, when the sails, the cap, the timber frame and the machinery were removed. The mill was converted into a pumping station and was in use as such until around 1985. The incomplete mill now has no function. Near the incomplete mill stands a house. The incomplete mill is located on the Poldervaart, until the end of the 20th century the boezem of Delfland.
