Inleiding
Het voormalig KETELHUIS, thans berghok, bij het landhuis Huize Olterterp is in 1927 gerealiseerd naar tekening van de architect G.J. Veenstra uit Leeuwarden. In opdracht van Jvr. J.F. Sandberg ontwierp hij het gebouwtje ter plaatsing van de pompinstallatie voor de centrale verwarming (CV). Het gebouwtje staat naast het koetshuis en is ermee verbonden door een gemetseld boogpoortje. De onder lessenaardak aangebouwde houten garage valt buiten bescherming van rijkswege wegens te weinig monumentale waarde.
Omschrijving
Het gebouwtje met bijna vierkante plattegrond is in één bouwlaag opgetrokken in bruingrauwe klinkerstenen op een gepleisterde plint. Het wordt afgesloten door een ojiefvormig, overstekend dak gedekt met riet. Het heeft een diepe kelder. Aan de zuidzijde is een bakstenen drietreeds stoep; een toegangsdeur met achtruits zijlicht onder een doorlopende eenvoudig versierde houten latei. In de geveltop zijn twee verticale lichtstroken van glasblokken. De oost- en westgevel zijn blind. In de noordgevel zijn twee negenruitsvensters in kozijnen met oortjes; in de geveltop twee verticale lichtspleten van glasblokken. Het dak heeft een schenkelspantconstructie: de acht ribben zijn afwisselend twee of drie lagen dik, waarvan één onder het overstek aan de zuidzijde. Op de zuidoostelijke hoek van het dak staat een gemetselde schoorsteen.
Waardering
Het gebouwtje voor de pompinstallatie van de CV uit 1927 is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang:

Introduction
The former BOILER HOUSE, now a storage shed, at the country house Huize Olterterp was realised in 1927 according to a drawing by architect G.J. Veenstra from Leeuwarden. At the commission of Jvr. J.F. Sandberg he designed the small building for the placement of the pump installation for the central heating (CH). The small building stands next to the coachhouse and is connected to it by a built brick arch gateway. The wooden garage attached under a lean-to roof falls outside national monument protection due to insufficient monumental value.
Description
The small building with an almost square floor plan is built in one storey in brownish-grey clinker bricks on a rendered plinth. It is closed off by an ogee-shaped, projecting roof covered with thatch. It has a deep cellar. On the south side is a brick three-step stoop; an entrance door with an eight-pane side light under a continuous simply decorated wooden lintel. In the gable top are two vertical light strips of glass blocks. The east and west facades are blind. In the north facade are two nine-pane windows in frames with ears; in the gable top two vertical light slits of glass blocks. The roof has a collar-tie truss structure: the eight ribs are alternately two or three layers thick, one of which is under the overhang on the south side. On the south-east corner of the roof stands a brick chimney.
