Inleiding
Het KOETSHUIS, thans berghok, bij het landhuis Huize Olterterp is gelijktijdig met het landhuis in 1906/1907 gebouwd. De vormgeving en het materiaalgebruik zijn aangepast aan die van het landhuis, zodat mag worden aangenomen dat het ontwerp vermoedelijk eveneens van Jhr. H.H. Sandberg van Boelens is, ingenieur bij de Staats Spoorwegen. H.H. Sandberg van Boelens was de schoonzoon van de bewoners van het landhuis. De grote dubbele deuren voor de koetsstalling zijn vervangen door twee zesruitsvensters. Aan de noordzijde zijn een moderne schuifdeur en een houten aanbouw onder doorgetrokken aankapping; deze aankapping is van ondergeschikt belang voor de bescherming van rijkswege.
Omschrijving
Het koetshuis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en staat met de nokrichting parallel aan die van het landhuis. Het bestaat uit één bouwlaag; de gevels zijn deels gepleisterd met een plint; onder overstekend zadeldak, belegd met zwart geglazuurde gegolfde Friese pannen. In de zuidgevel zijn twee opgeklampte deuren met meerruits bovenlichten (de linker gaf toegang tot de paardestal, de rechter tot de koetsstalling) en een smal T-venster.
De westgevel is opgetrokken in bruine bakstenen, ongepleisterd en blind.
De noordgevel is opgetrokken in bruine bakstenen en aan de oostzijde gedeeltelijk bepleisterd. De oostgevel heeft twee zesruitsvensters en een ijzeren roosvenster in de geveltop.
Waardering
Het voormalige koetshuis bij Huize Olterterp uit 1906/1907 is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang:

Introduction
The COACHHOUSE, now a storage shed, at the country house Huize Olterterp was built at the same time as the country house in 1906/1907. The design and use of materials were adapted to those of the country house, so it may be assumed that the design was presumably also by Jhr. H.H. Sandberg van Boelens, engineer at the State Railways. H.H. Sandberg van Boelens was the son-in-law of the residents of the country house. The large double doors for the coach stalls have been replaced by two six-pane windows. On the north side are a modern sliding door and a wooden extension under continuous sloping roof covering; this roof covering is of subsidiary importance for national monument protection.
Description
The coachhouse has a rectangular floor plan and stands with its ridge direction parallel to that of the country house. It consists of one storey; the facades are partly rendered with a plinth; under a projecting gabled roof, covered with black glazed corrugated Frisian tiles. In the south facade are two cramped doors with multi-pane fanlights (the left gave access to the horse stable, the right to the coach stalls) and a narrow T-window.
The west facade is built in brown bricks, unrendered and blind.
The north facade is built in brown bricks and partially rendered on the east side. The east facade has two six-pane windows and an iron lattice window in the gable top.
Valuation
The former coachhouse at Huize Olterterp from 1906/1907 is of general cultural-historical importance:
