Inleiding
De voormalige EXERCITIELOODS, thans in gebruik als opslagruimte, is gebouwd in het begin van de 20ste eeuw. Het pand maakte deel uit van de Mauritskazerne, die in 1866 was gebouwd t.b.v. het in Doesburg gelegerde garnizoen. De garnizoensperiode van de stad Doesburg kwam in de nacht van 4 op 5 april 1945 abrupt ten einde door het afbranden van de Mauritskazerne, waarbij de exercitieloods bleef gespaard.
De exercitieloods is gelegen aan de oostzijde van de Barend Ubbinkweg.
Omschrijving
Het in kruisverband gemetselde bakstenen pand is opgetrokken op rechthoekige grondslag en telt één bouwlaag onder een met rode (rechter dakschild) en gesmoorde (linker dakschild) kruispannen gedekt zadeldak. Het trasraam wordt afgesloten met een halfsteens rollaag.
De symmetrisch ingedeelde VOORGEVEL is door vlakke pilasters, waaronder hoekpilasters, verdeeld in vijf gelijke vakken. De daklijn wordt gevolgd door een klimmend segmentboogfries en heeft een windveer. Het middelste vak heeft op de begane grond een opgeklampte stolpdeur en daarboven twee 12-ruits vensters. De vakken links en rechts daarvan hebben op de begane grond twee 12-ruits vensters en daarboven twee 6-ruits vensters. De twee buitenste vakken zijn blind.
De symmetrisch ingedeelde LINKER en RECHTER ZIJGEVEL zijn door vlakke pilasters, waaronder hoekpilasters, verdeeld in negen gelijke vakken. In het middelste vak bevindt zich in beide gevels een niet oorspronkelijke overhead-deur. De overige vakken bevatten twee 12-ruits vensters. De gevel wordt afgesloten met een bakgoot op houten klossen. Het rechter dakvlak bevat een 6-tal daklichten.
De ACHTERGEVEL heeft vermoedelijk in oorsprong een gelijke indeling gehad als de voorgevel. Thans wordt de gevel voor een groot deel aan het zicht onttrokken door een niet oorspronkelijke aanbouw. Zichtbaar zijn de pilasters, het segmentboogfries en de vensters in de bovenlaag, die allen identiek zijn aan die in de voorgevel.
Het INTERIEUR bestaat uit één grote lege ruimte. De kapconstructie is aan het zicht onttrokken door een beplating.

Introduction
The former EXERCISE HALL, now in use as storage space, was built in the early 20th century. The building formed part of the Mauritskazerne, which was built in 1866 for the garrison stationed in Doesburg. The garrison period of the city of Doesburg came to an abrupt end in the night of 4 to 5 April 1945 with the burning down of the Mauritskazerne, whereby the exercise hall was spared.
The exercise hall is located on the east side of the Barend Ubbinkweg.
Description
The brick building, laid in alternating bond, is erected on a rectangular plan and comprises one storey under a gabled roof covered with red (right roof slope) and pantiles with mortar (left roof slope). The plaster course is finished with a half-brick roll course.
The symmetrically arranged FRONT FACADE is divided by flat pilasters, including corner pilasters, into five equal bays. The roof line is followed by a segmental arch frieze rising in steps and has a wind brace. The central bay has on the ground floor a clamped down-draught door and above it two 12-pane windows. The bays to the left and right of it have on the ground floor two 12-pane windows and above them two 6-pane windows. The two outer bays are blind.
The symmetrically arranged LEFT and RIGHT SIDE FACADES are divided by flat pilasters, including corner pilasters, into nine equal bays. In the central bay of both facades is a non-original overhead door. The remaining bays contain two 12-pane windows. The facade is finished with a rain gutter on wooden corbels. The right roof slope contains some 6 roof lights.
The REAR FACADE presumably originally had the same arrangement as the front facade. The facade is now largely obscured from view by a non-original extension. Visible are the pilasters, the segmental arch frieze and the windows in the upper storey, which are all identical to those in the front facade.
The INTERIOR consists of one large empty space. The roof truss structure is hidden from view by boarding.
