Voormalige 'boerderijhangar', betonskelet uit de periode 1942-1945, in het open veld geplaatst, nabij de ingang van de vliegbasis Volkel, en restant van een voormalige VLIEGTUIGHANGAR.
Omschrijving
Het skelet is door de Duitse bezetter uit gewapend beton opgetrokken als hangar voor vliegtuigen op de thans nog bestaande vliegbasis Volkel. Dergelijke hangars waren als boerderij gecamoufleerd, maar deze omkleding is geheel verwijderd. De twee zware horizontale liggers rusten op vier zich naar boven en beneden verjongende stijlen, waarmee ze door een afschuining aan de onderzijde verbonden zijn. Materiaalbesparing is bereikt door een plaatselijke verdunning van deze overgangen. Het geheel toont de sporen van de bekisting en wordt afgedekt door iets overkragende platen.
Waardering
De voormalige vliegtuighangar is van algemeen belang. Het bouwwerk heeft cultuurhistorische waarde vanwege de herinnering aan de Duitse bezetting tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog, het is een herinnering aan de wording van het militaire vliegveld Volkel en is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van de vliegtuighangar. The skeleton was erected by the German occupier from reinforced concrete as a hangar for aircraft at the now still existing Volkel air base. Such hangars were camouflaged as a farm, but this cladding has been completely removed. The two heavy horizontal beams rest on four vertical supports that taper both upwards and downwards, connected by a chamfer at the bottom. Material saving was achieved through local thinning of these transitions. The whole shows traces of the formwork and is covered by slightly overhanging slabs.
Valuation
The former aircraft hangar is of general importance. The structure has cultural-historical value because of the memory of the German occupation during the Second World War, it is a reminder of the development of the military airfield Volkel and is also important for the typological development of the aircraft hangar.
