Inleiding
Voormalige BEWAARSCHOOL, onderdeel uitmakend van het Nederlandsche Protestantenbond-complex te Weesp, daterend uit omstreeks 1905 en opgetrokken in overgangsarchitectuur.
De voormalige bewaarschool, thans in gebruik als ruimte van de openbare bibliotheek, bevindt zich aan de Nieuwstraatzijde en heeft een ingang (zuidzijde) aan een kleine binnenplaats. Tot de bewaarschool behoort ook de muur die de westelijke begrenzing van de binnenplaats vormt en die voorheen de oostelijke buitengevel van de lagere school vormde. De muur bevat thans (1996) geheel links nog een deur, maar bevatte oorspronkelijk waarschijnlijk ook rechts een deur en in het midden een hooggeplaatst venster.
Omschrijving
Pand, gebouwd op rechthoekig grondplan, bestaande uit één bouwlaag onder een verzonken zadeldak met leien in Maasdekking. De noklijn loopt evenwijdig aan de Nieuwstraat. Het pand is opgetrokken in rode baksteen in kruisverband, afgewerkt met een knipvoeg. De onderdorpels van de vensters zijn uitgevoerd in hardsteen, de bovendorpels in zandsteen. Ook de schouderstukken en afdekplaten van de kopgevels zijn van zandsteen. Tenzij anders vermeld, bevatten de vensterassen een rechthoekig houten venster met roedenverdeling. De voorgevel (O) heeft een breedte van negen vensterassen. De vijf linkerassen bevatten een dubbel draaivenster. De vier rechterassen bevatten elk een hoog rechthoekig roedenvenster met bovenlicht. Deze vier rechtervensters zijn gekoppeld door een doorlopende onder- respectievelijk bovendorpel. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een dubbele tandlijst en een houten gootlijst op houten geprofileerde consoles.
De linkerzijgevel (Z) grenst aan een kleine binnenplaats en bevat een rechthoekige dubbele deur met twee vierruits-bovenlichten en aan weerszijden van de dubbele deur een zesruits-venster met vierruits-bovenlicht. Boven de deur bevindt zich in de kapverdieping een dubbele opgeklampte deur. De kopgevel wordt afgesloten door een puntgevel met schouderstukken. De achtergevel (W) is thans (1996) opgenomen in de (niet beschermde) bibliotheek op het westelijk deel van het erf.
Met de rechterzijgevel (N) grenst het pand aan het (niet beschermde) nieuwbouwpand op het naburige erf.
De muur die de westelijke begrenzing van de binnenplaats vormt, bestaat uit een in rode baksteen opgetrokken muur in kruiverband, afgesloten door een dubbele tandlijst en houten gootlijst op geprofileerde houten consoles. De muur bevat links een rechthoekige deur met hardstenen dorpel en vierruits-bovenlicht boven een zandstenen latei.

De voormalige bewaarschool is van algemeen belang als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het Nederlandsche Protestantenbond-complex te Weesp.

Former INFANTS' SCHOOL, component of the Nederlandsche Protestantenbond complex in Weesp, dating from approximately 1905 and constructed in transitional architecture.
The former infants' school, now in use as a space for the public library, is located on the Nieuwstraat side and has an entrance (south side) on a small courtyard. The infants' school also includes the wall that forms the western boundary of the courtyard and which previously formed the eastern outer facade of the primary school. The wall currently (1996) contains a door on the far left, but originally probably also contained a door on the right and a high-placed window in the centre.
Description
Building, constructed on a rectangular ground plan, consisting of one storey under a recessed gabled roof with slates in Maas covering. The ridge line runs parallel to Nieuwstraat. The building is constructed in red brick in Flemish bond, finished with a struck joint. The window sills are executed in hard stone, the window lintels in sandstone. The shoulders and capping plates of the gable ends are also of sandstone. Unless otherwise stated, the window axes contain a rectangular wooden window with glazing bars. The front facade (E) has a width of nine window axes. The five left axes contain a double casement window. The four right axes each contain a tall rectangular glazed window with fanlight. These four right windows are linked by a continuous sill and lintel respectively. The facade is terminated by a double dentil course and a wooden gutter moulding on profiled wooden consoles.
The left side facade (S) borders a small courtyard and contains a rectangular double door with two four-pane fanlights and on either side of the double door a six-pane window with four-pane fanlight. Above the door is a double clasped door in the roof space. The gable end is terminated by a pointed gable with shoulders. The rear facade (W) is now (1996) incorporated into the (non-protected) library on the western part of the plot.
With the right side facade (N) the building borders the (non-protected) new building on the neighbouring plot.
The wall that forms the western boundary of the courtyard consists of a wall constructed in red brick in Flemish bond, terminated by a double dentil course and wooden gutter moulding on profiled wooden consoles. The wall contains on the left a rectangular door with hard stone sill and four-pane fanlight above a sandstone lintel.
