Inleiding
WOONHUIS en WATERTOREN behorend bij Boerderij Imstenrade. Woonhuis en watertoren werden omstreeks 1910 gebouwd. De bouwstijl is traditionalistisch met elementen Chaletstijl.
Woonhuis en watertoren (beide huisnummer 4) werden gebouwd in opdracht van dhr. F. Schepens, de scheepsreder die tevens opdracht gaf voor de bouw van de Villa Imstenrade.
Omschrijving
Woonhuis en watertoren (beide huisnummer 4) op een rechthoekige plattegrond.
Gecementeerde plint. Optrek in baksteen. Speklagen in hardsteen. Metselwerk in kruisverband. Rechthoekige houten vensters en deuren.
Het WOONHUIS telt een bouwlaag en wordt afgedekt met een schilddak met Tuiles du Nord. Breed dakoverstek op houten consoles. Twee dakkapellen met schilddakjes. In de frontgevel twee segmentboogvormige houten poorten en een rechthoekige houten deur. Drie vensters waarvan een met roedeverdeling. Frontgevel uitlopend in topgevel met hierin twee vensters. In de topgevel een houten raamwerk. In de linkerzijgevel een topgevelachtige dakkapel met hierin twee vensters en eveneens een houten raamwerk.
De WATERTOREN telt vijf bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt met een tentdak met betonpannen. Op het dak een lantaarn. In de eerste bouwlaag twee rechthoekige vensters met houten luiken. In de tweede bouwlaag een groot rechthoekig venster met hardstenen dorpelsteen en latei. In de derde bouwlaag twee rechthoekige vensters. In de vierde bouwlaag twee kleine vensters. De vijfde bouwlaag wordt gevormd door het waterreservoir en dit bevindt zich in een uitgebouwd torengedeelte.
Aan de straatzijde een smeedijzeren hekwerk tussen twee bakstenen kolommen met ezelsrug afdekking.
De structuur van het INTERIEUR van zowel woonhuis als watertoren is beperkt in tact.
Waardering
Woonhuis en watertoren bezitten cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling. Architectuurhistorische waarde ontlenen de objecten aan het bijzondere belang voor de bovenregionale geschiedenis van de architectuur en wegens de bijzondere ornamentiek. De watertoren geldt als een belangwekkend element en representant van historische utiliteitsbouw en bezit tevens belevings- herkennings- en silhouetwaarden.
De objecten bezitten ensemblewaarde als essentieel onderdeel van een groter complex dat cultuurhistorisch van bijzonder belang is. De objecten zijn tenslotte van algemeen belang wegens de redelijke mate van architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en de typologische zeldzaamheid.

Description
Residential house and water tower (both house number 4) on a rectangular plan.
Cemented plinth. Brickwork. Bands of hardstone. Masonry in Flemish bond. Rectangular wooden windows and doors.
The RESIDENTIAL HOUSE comprises one storey and is covered with a hipped roof with Tuiles du Nord. Broad roof overhang on wooden consoles. Two roof dormers with hipped roofs. In the front facade two segmental arch wooden gates and a rectangular wooden door. Three windows, one of which has glazing bars. Front facade terminating in a gable with two windows therein. In the gable a wooden frame. In the left side facade a gable-like roof dormer with two windows therein and likewise a wooden frame.
The WATER TOWER comprises five storeys and is covered with a tent roof with concrete tiles. On the roof a lantern. In the first storey two rectangular windows with wooden shutters. In the second storey a large rectangular window with hardstone threshold stone and lintel. In the third storey two rectangular windows. In the fourth storey two small windows. The fifth storey is formed by the water reservoir and this is situated in an extended tower section.
On the street side a wrought-iron railing between two brick columns with saddle-back coping.
The structure of the INTERIOR of both residential house and water tower is limited in condition.

Residential house and water tower possess cultural-historical value as a particular expression of socio-economic and typological development. Architectural-historical value derives from the objects' particular significance for supra-regional history of architecture and owing to the particular ornamentation.
