Inleiding
De betonnen BRUG over de oude Riedstroom, de vaart tussen Franeker en Berlikum, verbindt de landerijen ten noorden van de vaart met de Dongjumerweg en het dorp Ried. Op de kaart van Eekhof uit 1852 staan links en rechts van deze toen al bestaande brug nog twee bruggen getekend. Een ervan, in het tracé van de huidige Nieuweweg, bestaat nog. Ten oosten van de weg in het verlengde van het tracé van de brug, lag de oude Andla State, die al op de Schotanus-atlas (1718) voorkomt. In de 19de eeuw is de oude state door een nieuwe boerderij vervangen. De huidige betonnen brug vervangt sedert de jaren twintig de oude brug.
Omschrijving
De betonnen brug bestaat uit een monolithitisch brugdek met trogprofiel, dat steunt op twee maal vier betonnen staanders met betonnen onderslagbalk; de staanders zijn voorzien van houten remmingswerken. Aan weerszijden van de staanders zijn houten geleidings- en aanvaringspalen met ijzeren muts en geleidepen aangebracht; twee van de vier palen zijn geschoord. De landhoofden zijn geconstrueerd uit betonnen damwandprofielen en voorzien van een betonnen deksloof met sprong.
Waardering
De betonnen brug over de Riedstroom is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch belang:

Introduction
The concrete BRIDGE over the old Riedstroom, the waterway between Franeker and Berlikum, connects the lands to the north of the waterway with the Dongjumerweg and the village of Ried.
