Omschrijving complexonderdeel 2
Het gepleisterde neoclasscistische POORTGEBOUW van de algemene begraafplaats staat direct aan de weg. Het is een langwerpig gebouw van één bouwlaag op een verhoogde voet, onder een schilddak gedekt met blauwe oud-Hollandse pannen en de nok evenwijdig aan de weg. Een gemetselde stoep leidt naar de centrale poortdoorgang, welke afgesloten is door een ijzeren spijlenhekwerk. Aan de ene zijde van de doorgang is het dodenbaarvertrek en aan de andere een verblijfsruimte voor de beheerder en opslagruimte voor gereedschap en ander materiaal. Opgeklampte deuren geven toegang tot deze ruimten. In de linkerzijgevel is een deur met bovenlicht aangebracht en in de rechterzijgevel een zesruits schuifvenster. In de achtergevel is één zesruits schuifvenster geplaatst.
De achter- en zijgevels zijn eenvoudig gepleisterd. De poortdoorgang is uitgevoerd in schoonmetselwerk van rode waalsteen in halfsteensverband met een gesneden voeg.
De gepleisterde voorgevel is voorzien van imitatievoegwerk op de hoekpilasters en verdiepte gevelvelden afgesloten door een getande lijst. De poortdoorgang wordt geaccentueerd door sierpleisterwerk in de boog en bekroond door een fronton versierd met doodssymboliek in de vorm van een vlinder met een krans in relief en in het pleisterwerk ingekraste geknakte en verdorde bloemen.
Waardering complexonderdeel 2
Het object is van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een negentiende-eeuws poortgebouw bij een begraafplaats, alsmede vanwege de neoclassicistische bouwstijl en ornamentiek. Tevens vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als uitdrukking van de funeraire cultuur in de negentiende eeuw. Het object is van ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van de totale aanleg van de algemene begraafplaats.

Description complex component 2
The rendered neoclassical GATEHOUSE of the public cemetery stands directly on the road. It is an elongated building of one storey on a raised base, under a hipped roof covered with blue old-Dutch tiles with the ridge parallel to the road. A masonry step leads to the central gate passage, which is closed off by an iron railings fence. On one side of the passage is the mortuary and on the other a living space for the caretaker and storage space for tools and other materials. Hinged doors provide access to these rooms. In the left side gable is a door with fanlight and in the right side gable a six-pane sash window. In the rear gable is one six-pane sash window.
The rear and side gables are simply rendered. The gate passage is executed in fair-faced brickwork of red Flemish bond brick in half-brick bond with a gauged joint.
The rendered front gable is provided with imitation jointing on the corner pilasters and recessed gable fields closed off by a dentil moulding. The gate passage is accentuated by ornamental plasterwork in the arch and crowned by a pediment decorated with funerary symbolism in the form of a butterfly with a wreath in relief and withered and broken flowers incised in the plasterwork.

The object is of general importance because of its architectural historical value as an example of a nineteenth-century gatehouse at a cemetery, as well as because of the neoclassical building style and ornamentation.
